Sneaker drops: there is now... drumroll... an app for that.
If they're Adidas sneakers, at least. The company announced Tuesday that it is launching an app called Confirmed that will allow users to receive push notifications when sneakers land in stores near them and then reserve a pair in their size for pickup. The system will get its first big test when Adidas releases its upcoming Kanye West collaboration, the timing of which hasn't been announced yet — although there are rumblings that it will take place during New York Fashion Week, which would make all the sense in the world.
The app will initially only serve New York City, Adidas said on Twitter, although it will roll out to other regions later.
Though using an app to jump on drops is a heck of a lot more comfortable than waiting in line outside a store for hours, shoppers do need to be ready to show up at a designated time (at a designated store) to pick up their goods. They'll also need to remember to turn their location and push notifications on.
And, of course, to keep their phones charged at all times.
