Ah, the Oscars. Glittering jewels, princess dresses, barrel curls and updos hiding innumerable hairpins.

Or, sometimes not. Dakota Johnson and Patricia Arquette both showed up to the Academy Awards with remarkably low-key hair looks. Not just low-key, but stunningly reminiscent of what your hair looks like after sweating it out at the gym.

On the Johnson side of things, we have a languid (limp) ponytail not unlike what you might see bobbing next to you on an elliptical. Meanwhile, Arquette's flyaways and tufted little nub at the back are exactly what Cheryl says her short, blonde hair looks like after kickboxing class. I'll second that — buns can get really feathery if your hair is on the shorter side.

This isn't to throw shade on either of them, though. While we love to see the magic that stylists are able to create with a head of hair, it's also really nice to see celebrities doing something ultra-normal. These are two looks we can genuinely say that you can easily get at home.

But we want to know what you think: who wore formal gym hair best?
