Target is at it again. After shutting down its Canadian operations in January, the retailer announced that it is eliminating 1,700 jobs, mostly at its Minneapolis headquarters. The workforce reductions will cost Target about $100 million in severance packages, but are part of the retailer's plans to cut $2 billion in costs over the next two years. {WWD}

Vera Bradley is closing its Indiana factory due to increases in domestic manufacturing costs. The closure, which will result in the loss of about 250 jobs, is expected to save the retailer about $12 million annually. {WWD}
