Fall 2015 should probably go down in history as the literal "Yeezy Season." From Kanye West's conceptual, star-studded presentation for Adidas in New York, to his front row appearances at hot-ticket shows like Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren and Balmain, to his touching BBC1 Zane Lowe interview that paid homage to the late Louise Wilson, the rapper/aspiring designer — who also made a point to release new music over the last four weeks — made sure that the spotlight was on (or around) him at all times.
So, it's only fitting that West will close down Paris Fashion Week in a similarly self-aggrandizing way. A cryptic Instagram posted by his wife Kim Kardashian on Friday morning hinted that West would be partnering up with the Fondation Louis Vuitton for a project or event in the coming days, and it was just announced that he'll be holding a series of concerts at the Frank Gehry-designed space.
According to the Fondation's website, from Saturday, March 7 through Tuesday, March 10, West will hold exclusive concerts nightly in the auditorium, accompanied by a film directed by Steve McQueen and an exhibition of photos by Jackie Nickerson. Tickets are for sale at €100 (about $109) apiece, with all proceeds supporting a yet-to-be-named charity.
It's heartwarming to see how far West has come since the days of his feud with LVMH — you may recall that the rapper rallied his fans to boycott Louis Vuitton after Bernard Arnault wouldn't take a meeting with him in 2013 — and he even showed further support by hanging out at the LVMH Prize reception (his friend and Creative Director Virgil Abloh is on the shortlist) this week. If you're in Paris and are looking to end the month-long fashion extravaganza with a bang, we're thinking this might be the right move.
