Time to whisk away dry winter skin.

Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than 5 million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test.

Spring: the time of the year when I put on a skirt and short-sleeved shirt after months of pants and sweaters and have to deal with how woefully dry my skin has become. The situation was apparently so bad this time around that I'd given myself light eczema on my arms, something I really hadn't paid much attention to until the dermatologist literally gasped when she saw them.

So I'm back on the exfoliate-and-moisturize train. For the latter, I'm all about Eucerin, especially its Eczema Relief cream. As for scrubs? I turned to YouTube for some DIY help.

This video by Michelle Phan shows how to incorporate the natural benefits of rice into your skincare routine, including a body scrub made from ground-up rice and a sheet mask crafted out of rice paper. I've always disliked how sugar scrubs dissolve on your skin in the shower, so rice seems like the way to go. Plus? It's super cheap. I think we have a winner.
