It's always kind of awkward when you're in the midst of a passionate discussion about, say, Nicolas Ghesquière's tenure at Louis Vuitton or Demna Gvasalia's latest street style bait and — cringe — you totally massacre the pronunciation of the designer's name. (Don't feel bad. I remember going to a Fashion's Night Out press conference back in 2010, and then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg repeatedly referred to Prabal Gurung as "Proo-bull Gare-ung" — all while addressing a roomful of fashion designers. Even billionaire politicians sometimes mangle fashion designer names.)

Of course, at this point, you're adept at articulating all the actual design house monikers —  Loo-ee Vyee-tahn, duh — but the actual designers' names can still cause some perplexing situations or lively debates (like, is it Roksanda Ill-in-chick or Ill-in-chich?!).

So to help you never fake your way around verbalizing "Olivier Rousteing" ever again ("Olivier, um, Rou...eh...mmph," totally been there), we've rounded up a comprehensive list of designer names with easy-to-sound-out, phonetic pronunciations below.
