The annual CFDA Awards will be held in New York on June 1, and as we get closer to the big night, we're beginning to find out which celebrities and industry bigwigs will take part in the ceremony. So far we've learned that "Empire" star Taraji P. Henson, newly minted Vogue cover girl Amanda Seyfried and the perennially dreamy Joshua Jackson (who will forever be known in my heart as Pacey) will act as presenters that evening, and now one of the buzziest — and most social media savvy — personalities in the world has announced her participation.
Kim Kardashian will be presenting the CFDA Media Award to Kevin Systrom, the founder of Instagram. She shared the news Tuesday afternoon on that very platform, as well as Twitter. Considering that Kardashian just published a book of selfies and boasts 33.3 million followers on the photo-sharing app, this pairing seems completely logical. Typically given to a journalist, photographer or critic at the top of his or her field, this award is already receiving extra attention this year as it marks the first time that it will be given to a platform as opposed to a person, further proving how technology is impacting the fashion industry. And who represents that change better than Kardashian?
We're still awaiting the final list of presenters for the CFDA Awards, but now that Kardashian's confirmed for an appearance, we can't help but wonder what role her husband Kanye West, fashion designer and enthusiast, will have in the evening's festivities. Stay tuned.
