President Obama probably should have called his pal (and top fundraiser) Anna Wintour before scheduling a trip to New York City on the same day as the Met Gala.
Guests and attending press were warned over the weekend that traffic will be slow on Monday evening due to the President's scheduled visit to an Upper East Side location. According to the Presidential press schedule, Obama is arriving in the city at noon and has a packed day that includes filming a segment for "Late Show with David Letterman" in midtown at 4:20 p.m. and two fundraising events at private residences at 6:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Page Six reports that one of the private residences is just blocks away from the Met, where well-dressed VIPs will be queuing up in their chauffeured cars to enter.
There's nothing like a Presidential motorcade to literally paralyze traffic. Wintour is a notorious stickler for being on time — if push comes to shove, here's hoping some couture-clad actress will be desperate enough to hop on the 6 train.
