She announced her new role — how else — on Instagram.

While it's been less than three months since Eva Chen, Lucky magazine's former editor in chief, confirmed she was departing the glossy, she already has a plush new gig. On Friday morning, the publishing industry veteran announced she will be joining Instagram as its head of fashion partnerships.

She did so on — what else? — Instagram, a platform on which she has 390,000 followers and counting. Her "formal" announcement was fittingly informal, pairing a slew of her frequently referenced emojis with the short message: "Beyond excited to announce that I'll be joining the brilliant team at Instagram as head of fashion partnerships!"

As a social media pioneer (who, for the record, announced her own pregnancy on Instagram), this is an apt move for her — and, clearly, a far cry from her familiar magazine grind.

Disclosure: I was employed by Lucky magazine prior to joining Fashionista, during which Eva Chen was editor in chief of the publication.
