It's hard not to sound breathless and/or hyperbolic when discussing a Giambattista Valli couture show, even if one wasn't physically there. Valli's might be the show I look forward to seeing the most each couture season, if only because his unabashed appreciation of all things pretty and feminine guarantees it will be a feast for the eyes.

This season he may have outdone himself, with surprising silhouettes and details that gave cocktail dresses and even pants the same wow-factor as the frothy, several-feet-wide evening gowns that closed the show.

Valli was certainly heavy-handed with elements like feathers, ruffles, tulle, ethereal floral prints and embellishments, but each look had just the right amount of one or two of those opulent details. Other awesome touches: thin, sparkly neckties, the statement earrings to end all statement earrings, and deliberately oversized sunglasses that added to the collections groovy, '60s tinge.

See it all below.
