This being my sixth editors' pick at Fashionista, I figured it was time for me to expose my one true sartorial love: denim, and lots of it. As a Midwestern staple, denim — in all of its various styles and cuts — has always been a key player in my wardrobe. When I wanted to experiment with peasant blouses and, unfortunately, crocheted headbands in seventh grade, it was a pair of cozy, dark-washed jeans that gave the outfit some normalcy. When I received my first Calvin Klein denim jacket as a gift in high school, I wore it every day for two straight weeks. And when I moved to New York, my style evolved, and I swapped out the pastel button-downs of my college days for cooler, breezier chambray shirts.
While I haven't worn my go-to chambray blouse — a crisp Madewell beauty — since late spring, I've been searching for an alternative to wear throughout the summer. Enter: Madewell's oversized, boxy chambray shirt, with short sleeves and a wash that's light enough to pair with just about anything. According to the product description, it's "super-soft," too, giving me even more reason to shell out the $75 and call it a day. But who am I kidding — does anyone really need to be convinced to invest in a comfortable, versatile and summer-friendly chambray?
Chambray courier shirt, $75, available at Madewell.
