Just two years old at this point, the contemporary label Self-Portrait's ascent to red-carpet-regular status has been swift and aggressive. The Fashionista tips line is routinely peppered with press blasts announcing that actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Elizabeth Banks, Kerry Washington and Kristen Stewart wore the brand's designs to one premiere or another.

While Self-Portrait's signature semi-sheer, paneled dresses have gotten the most attention thus far, this little black getup worn by Rachel McAdams at the New York premiere of "Southpaw" on Monday night might be one of the brand's most winning red carpet placements yet. That is, of course, thanks in no small part to Ms. McAdams herself, whose nearly chin-length haircut works wondrously well against that open neckline.

The twist at the top is a nice touch, and the tea-length hem is classy as hell and provides a nice counterbalance to that (ooh la la) solar plexus cutout. We've seen a lot of off-the-shoulder action this summer, but it hasn't reached peak trend saturation... yet. For now, at least, nothing looks more refreshing on a summer night.

So hats off to you, McAdams, and congratulations on the win, Self-Portrait.
