Tom Ford bucked convention when he moved his biannual women's ready-to-wear show from London to Los Angeles last season, presenting his collection to a star-studded front row just days before the Oscars. Complementing the venue change, the clothing had western vibes with plenty of patchwork denim, suede, fur, fringe and leather — a theme that is even more pronounced in the corresponding campaign. Shot by Mario Sorrenti in London, models Lucky Blue Smith and Ondria Hardin pose in front of a rock formation worthy of a Hollywood set and in the kind of high-contrast lighting one finds in the desert.
Smith is the young male model of the moment, thanks to his signature bleach blonde hair, 1.2 million Instagram followers and ability to play the drums in a band with his sisters. Born and raised in Utah, Smith's thick brows and chiseled face feel in sync with the setting.
Hardin, for her part, dons an assortment of statement earrings and either fringed, patchworked or semi-sheer clothing, the high-contrast lighting making a dramatic play on her back, cheekbones and hair. With her tanned skin, gold lips and sleek braided bun, she encapsulates the pure glamour Ford always delivers.
