There was a lot of eyeliner and fake lashes on the red carpet at Sunday night's VMAs, but in the beauty arena at least, it was the hair that took center stage. And as is the case for most awards shows, a lot of attendees wound up with similar styles. Here, the six most obvious hair trends from the 2015 MTV VMAs.

Swoops:

Let's just get this elephant in the room out of the way: Fashionista is pro-Justin Bieber's swoop.  It has an early Brad Pitt quality that works on him. It makes him look contrite — or maybe sheepish — instead of being all, "Hey, look at my hip bones in these Calvin Klein undies!" He's taking a more humble approach to life by covering up one eye.

Obviously Kris Jenner couldn't let the Biebs have his moment, so she, too, brought out a swoop for the night.

Slick/Sleek:

First off, let's note that Jared Leto now has Barbie pink hair in case that gets lost in the shuffle. Leto, Kim Kardashian and Devi Lovato all invested in a ton of hair gel for the night. Gigi Hadid's look had the same effect, but was decidedly less slippery looking than everyone else's. She was obviously using some bionic hair spray, though.

Blunt Bangs:

This is just eerie. Kylie and Nicki — separated at birth?

Middle Parts:

In case you thought middle parts were unflattering, you're wrong. Just look at all the things you can do with one: Make it stick straight (Kourtney Kardashian, Mariska Hargitay, Ciara); slick down half of it (Hailee Steinfeld); or add model-worthy beach waves (Emily Ratajkowski and Lily Aldridge).

Pinterest Hair:

Whose hair will win "Most Pinned" on Pinterest? Taylor Swift opted for a tasteful knot, which she later took out and smoothed down; Britney Spears channeled "I Dream of Jeannie;" Rita Ora tied a bunch of sailor's knots in her hair; and Chrissy Teigen went with some elaborate messy braids with no discernible start or finish.

Miley's Scrunchies:

OK, so Miley Cyrus's outfits were feats of nip-slip preventative engineering, but what was going on above her neck was also worth noting: scrunchies! Glorious scrunchies. Tinsel-y ones and floral ones and fuzzy ones and even a silver Versace one. (Also: that lower lid aqua liner is fantastic. Someone pulls that out at every other awards show and it always looks great.)

No one else's hair looked as great as FKA Twigs' did. Just throwing that out there.
