As far as rising stars in the New York design community are concerned, Misha Nonoo is as high-wattage as they come. Since debuting her eponymous label during New York Fashion Week's fall 2011 season, Nonoo, now 29, has racked up a slew of honors — including a spot in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition in 2013.
Now, less than nine months after launching e-commerce, Nonoo is moving in an unexpected direction. This season, she will be foregoing a traditional, live runway show for a "digital-only format" — described on the official Fashion Calendar as an "Insta-Show" — the brand confirmed to Fashionista. While details are scarce, the rep remarked that she is "excited" to stage her spring 2016 range in this new structure. Additional information will be available as Fashion Week inches closer.
As a young a designer who is a go-to for some of Hollywood's most stylish celebrities like Emma Watson, Nonoo is now established enough that she has the luxury of taking risks — for example, she sent bearded artist Dustin Yellin down her spring 2015 runway in a halter-neck shirtdress. To wit, there are few design houses that stick to the very same arrangement each and every season, and we suspect that Nonoo's upcoming "digital-only format" is only an extension of that.
