Last fall, a particular pair of thigh-high boots from Stuart Weitzman caught my eye after many of my industry pals picked them up at the beginning of the season. I'd already splurged on some ankle booties (as I am wont to do), but their simple design — adorned only with a tie at the back to hold them in place — really won me over, as did their ability to pair well with a miniskirt, some skinny jeans or a cocktail dress. The fact that they made all of my friends' legs look impossibly long no matter what their stature didn't hurt, either.

My lust for the boots came back after Gisele modeled a slightly higher version in Weitzman's fall 2015 ad campaign, in which she forwent pants altogether to demonstrate the extra-high rise. While I would not be brave enough to style the footwear with nothing but an oversized sweater and a lot of self confidence, there are plenty of other possibilities to carry me through fall and winter. As the temperatures begin to cool down, I'll pair them with a summer dress and a leather jacket, making my warm weather staples more seasonally appropriate; and when winter arrives in full force, pulling them over my tights, jeans or knee socks will allow for an extra layer of warmth.

These boots don't come cheap, and they're certainly way out of my usual comfort zone, but if they can get me one step closer to achieving the illusion of supermodel-long legs (while staying toasty) this fall, I think they'll be well worth the investment.

Stuart Weitzman "ALLLEGS" boots, $798, available at Stuart Weitzman.
