"I look back at outfits and I'm mortified."

In a video interview with CNN — filmed the day Kim Kardashian stopped by the Givenchy showroom in New York to find something to wear to the French house's highly anticipated spring 2016 runway show — the multi-hyphenate social media star credited her husband Kanye West for changing her style for the better, resulting in the current approval she receives from fashion's elite.

"Back in the day, I thought I had the best style," said Kardashian. "I look back at outfits and I'm mortified. I remember one day, [West] brought me Carine Roitfeld's book and was like, 'You should be studying this book, this is the fashion bible.' I was like, 'Who's Carine?' I knew nothing, and he said, 'Watch, one day she's going to style you.'"

Kardashian has hinted before that West is basically her stylist, but rarely as explicitly as in this interview. "Kanye sees what's out there on the streets and knows how to translate that into something that would look good on me, just helping me push my limits a little bit and try new things," she said. The couple appeared together on the cover of Vogue in April 2014, and since then, their ranking has risen steadily within the industry. It's not as surprising as it once was to see them stealing the show at Fashion Week each season or at the Met Gala, where their family members — notably model Kendall Jenner — are also established presences.

In the interview, Kardashian also expresses gratitude to Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, who was the first luxury designer to dress her — and even designed the gown for her wedding to West. "I'm so grateful that he saw a vision and was willing to dress me, because no other designers were at that time," she said.

Now designers are begging, and paying, for Kardashian's attendance at their shows. Plus, Tisci says many of the designers who pretend to be her friend now criticized him when he first started working with her.

Another fun fact in CNN's interview? Kardashian has made $53 million this year so far. For comparison, last year Beyonce made $115 million, Taylor Swift made $64 million and Rihanna made $48 million, according to Forbes
