When I was 21, I placed my very first order for Moroccanoil hair products. I had just spent three months interning at a wonderful fashion magazine in New York, and I felt I needed to up my beauty routine before returning to college for my senior year. I was a Manhattan person now, dammit, and I needed glossy hair! I needed it now!

Among the items included in that first order? The brand's fabled Restorative Hair Mask — which, at $75 for the largest size, was roughly $60 more expensive any other hair product I'd purchased in the past. It's still a lot of money for a tub of goop you use to smear all over your scalp, but I'm deadly serious when I say the following: This stuff has changed my hair for the better.

While my hair care regimen has always been fairly simple, I've found that years of blow-drying and tight ponytails can leave my strands quite dry and prone to breakage. So, once a week, I began donning this revitalizing gunk for five to seven minutes, emerging out of the shower like a long-haired Disney princess. In a matter of months, my hair got stronger, thicker and shinier — and that certainly wasn't due to my diet of late-night pizza and Leinenkugel Summer Shandy (#college, ya know?). Of all the pricier beauty products in my medicine cabinet, this remains at the tip-top of my shopping list. It's just the best.
