Now that it truly feels like fall, I can finally ditch my summer sandals for all of the boots that I please. However, my fully stocked supply hasn't felt quite complete without the ultimate fall-friendly footwear: the Chelsea boot.
The British-inspired staple has been on my radar for years, and I've been on a long and tired search for a pair that fits both my style preferences and my budget. Most types were too round at the toe; others too big in the ankle, or too short in height. (In my opinion, a signature Chelsea boot should go well above your ankle.) Any pair that came close to what I wanted was way too expensive — despite the high probability that I could get my money's worth with frequent wear.
But my hunt for Chelsea boots is now officially over, thanks to a serendipitous flash sale from & Other Stories last month. The H&M sister brand discounted its footwear prices by 50 percent for one night only and I found a pair that had everything I was looking for: elastic panels that run high above the ankle, a long-lasting sole with a slight height in the heel, a leather outsole and an ankle tab. Chelsea boots must always have an ankle tab. I plan on wearing my new shoes with just about everything this fall, from skinny jeans and an oversized crew-neck sweater to a denim frock with frayed edges and sheer black tights.
Leather Chelsea Boots, $195, available at & Other Stories.
