Whether they like it or not, the men of Brooklyn have become known for certain sartorial tendencies and rugged grooming habits over the years, from plaid shirts and slim-fitting pants to carefully considered facial hair and headwear (perfect for days when your man bun isn't behaving). Now, it's going to be even easier for neighborhood guys to pick up everyday staples that fit this description: On Friday, Ralph Lauren opens the doors to its first-ever Brooklyn shop, a Double RL men's store on North 3rd Street in Williamsburg.
The Double RL brand, which was established 20 years ago, is a purveyor of the kinds of clothing items you'd expect to see while wandering the streets of Brooklyn, like lace-up work boots, utilitarian and vintage-inspired outerwear, Southwestern-patterned sweaters, selvedge denim and, of course, plenty of flannel. This workwear-heavy aesthetic is mimicked in the store's design as well, and the new location — the ninth Double RL shop in the world — is housed inside a former factory building, which boasts exposed brick, original wood flooring, high ceilings and timber beams.
Considering how "on brand" this location sounds for the label, we're surprised Ralph Lauren didn't stake a claim in the neighborhood sooner.
