I love the dangling threads around the neckline of this otherwise plain-Jane Calvin Klein dress. And the wide cuff fur gloves are actually adorable — and useful on a day like today.  — Chantal Fernandez

Marc Jacobs

The looks in Marc Jacobs's Victorian-gothic fall collection were not the easiest to wear, but I actually really liked this coat. No one ever thinks to put a coat over a gown on the runway, and this one is perfect for a fancy night out in the winter.  — Dhani Mau

Ralph Lauren

I'm fairly certain my mouth physically dropped open when this slinky, sophisticated gown — in this season's standout material, velvet — came down the runway. You can't tell here, but it had a completely open back that sat so beautifully on the model. It's a daring silhouette, but with its pleats and in that plush fabric, it couldn't have looked more characteristic of the brand. — Maura Brannigan

Despite not being extreme or out-of-the-ordinary, this look succeeded in appearing as evergreen and classic as it did modern and contemporary. With the swingy culottes, fine-knit sweater and chevron-style coat, it looked exactly like something I'd want to wear in this cold, cold weather, as well as five years from now. — Maura Brannigan

This Ralph Lauren look exudes all-American '90s minimalism. I don't think I'd look as good in it as this model, but I'd certainly try. — Dhani Mau
