Celebrating Parsons’ Grads with Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung, and More

Last night, following the senior’s fashion show in the afternoon, Parsons hosted a benefit dinner at Pier 60. The benefit served many purposes: to raise money for Parsons’ scholarships, honor Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez and Bonnie Brooks, President of Hudson’s Bay Company, showcase the senior class’ designs, and announce the Designers of the Year. That’s a lot to pack into one evening–and it was a long one!–but considering the benefit raised nearly $1.7 million for scholarships it was completely worth it.

We caught up with attendees Prabal Gurung and Proenza Schouler as well as Parsons grad Harim Jung, who took home the womenswear designer of the year awards and the Kering Empowering Imagination Award. Read on.

Cecilia Dean on Visionaire 63, the World’s First All-Metal Magazine

Cecilia Dean on Visionaire 63, the World’s First All-Metal Magazine

We’ve all heard the phrase “Nothing lasts forever,” but Visionaire is seeking to disprove that theory with its 63rd edition. Titled “Forever” and entirely made of metal, the magazine is a collaboration with G-Shock and features eight imprinted images by artists like Inez & Vinoodh, Craig McDean, Karl Lagerfeld, Yoko Ono, Richard Avedon, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari in a metal casing–it’s the world’s first all metal magazine.

The party took the silvery metal theme and ran with it. The Clocktower Gallery was transformed into a silver playland complete with silver confetti, mylar balloons, and even glitter cocktails. Guests including Cecilia Dean, James Kaliardos, Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea, Ladyfag, Hilary Rhoda, Heidi Mount, Constance Jablonski, and Vika Gazinskaya committed to the metallic theme with glittering outfits or accessories, although no one tried harder than a girl wearing light up mouse ears.

We caught up with Visionaire founder and all-over inspirational person Cecilia Dean to get the low down on how the magazine was made and what she wishes could last forever.

StyleLikeU Founders Open Up About the Perks and Perils of Being a Mother-Daughter Team

Lily Mandelbaum and Elisa Goodkind, the women behind online style zine StyleLikeU, might just be fashion’s most well-traveled closet-raiders. They also happen to be mother and daughter.

Here, they share with us what it’s like to work together, just in time for Mother’s Day.

“We’ve been so much about everybody else the whole time,” shared Elisa, “but we recognize that we have a story to tell as well and that, with our relationship, the reason we’re doing this is super deep and personal so that it’s important to also show that to the world.”

Pre-Met Ball Partying with Net-a-porter

When Net-a-porter throws a party, it goes all out. Saturday night, NAP’s Natalie Massenet, Lucy Yeomans, and Alison Loehnis hosted a pre-Met Ball, pre-Frieze party at Omar’s, the as-yet unopnened private supper club on West 9th St. It was billed as a dinner, but quickly devolved into a several-hours-long cocktail hour with Valentino PR honcho Carlos Souza’s sons serving as DJs. Everyone was there. Literally everyone. From Inez and Vinoodh to Karolina Kurkova to Olivier Theyskens to Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez to Christopher Kane to Olivier Rousting to Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the guest list was just purely bonkers. You couldn’t blink without bumping into someone you felt embarrassed about bumping into.

I spent the party trying to get the scoop on attendees Met Ball plans and punk pasts.

The Stars Come Out for a Post-Coachella Party with AnOther Mag

We thought Coachella ended Sunday, but at the AnOther Magazine/AnOther Man party at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Tuesday, we felt like maybe there’s always a little Coachella in LA.

Editor-in-Chief Jefferson Hack historically throws edgy, slightly unconventional, star-studded parties to fete his edgy, slightly unconventional, star-studded bi-annual publications. Partnering with Milk Studios co-owner Mazdack Rassi, Hack did not deviate from his fail-safe formula, with stars like Joshua Jackson, Orlando Bloom, Andrej Pejic, Liz Goldwyn, Sky Ferreira, Frankie Rayder, and China Chow packed into Milk’s airy and gorgeous LA digs.

Target Throws a Prom Party to Celebrate Kate Young Collaboration

We’ve yet to enter a Target collaboration launch party that didn’t instantly make us smile, and last night’s soirée for stylist Kate Young’s new eveningwear collection was no exception. In fact, we’re kind of still smiling about it.

“There’s a little bit of a showgirl and a drag queen in me and I think that it’s much more fun to do [evening wear] than make a bunch of black pants,” Young told us of the collection.
