Hussein Chalayan Talks the Curse of the Fashion Cycle and Always ‘Doing Something New’

Lauded British designer Hussein Chalayan closed Audi’s Singapore Fashion Festival on Sunday night, the last of several international designers to show their fall 2013 collections during the week. While the clothes certainly wowed the audience–especially the convertible gowns that models dramatically unleashed while walking down the runway–it was even more fun to chat with Chalayan backstage after the show.

The deeply opinionated designer discussed everything from why he’ll probably never show at London Fashion Week again, to his ideal fashion cycle.

Francisco Costa on Rejecting Tom Ford and the Met Gala’s Punk Theme

This past weekend, the fashion crowd made its annual pilgrimage to Savannah, Georgia for Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)’s senior fashion show–and this year I had the pleasure of being a part of it–and even got to interview Francisco Costa, this year’s recipient of the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award.

We chatted about Savannah, his own fashion education, career challenges, and celebrity dressing–including his experience outfitting a few A-listers for this month’s Met Gala. Also–expect another mass collaboration in the near future.

A Tour of Nashville’s Burgeoning Fashion Scene

With the maker movement taking over the nation in a real, viable way, it’s little surprise that Nashville–home of country music, Jack White, Harmony Korine and plenty of other artists creating original, thoughtful work–has its very own cottage industry of fashion designers, doing everything from 70s-inspired stage outfits to rugged leather handbags. So, Style.com sat down with him for an interview to more or less assess how punk he really is.

So, how punk is Riccardo Tisci, really? Let him count the ways:

Holly Fulton Talks Upcoming Collabs and How Working for Alber Elbaz Helped Shape Her Career

Lots of designers are working with print these days–but few are doing it with the wit and charm that Holly Fulton is.

The London-based designer, who worked at Lanvin for two years before starting her own label in 2009, has already made quite the splash in the UK: She was named Scottish Young Designer in 2009 and 2010, and won the Emerging Talent Accessories at British fashion awards 2010. And if you haven’t heard of her yet–well, trust us you will soon.

We caught up with Fulton yesterday at the London Show Rooms press preview (for the past few years the British Fashion Council has been bringing London’s creme de la creme across the pond so editors can check them out).
