Excited for tonight’s Revenge finale? The costume designer for one of our favorite prime time soaps answers all of our questions about the characters’ stylish and red-heavy wardrobes.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that one of my major life goals when I first moved to New York a few years back was to find and makeout with Gossip Girl lothario Ed Westwick. Unrealistic? Maybe. But I never knew how close I’d actually come (well… proximity-wise, anyway).
From the introduction of branded web series to investments in ecommerce to Anna Wintour’s expanded new role, Condé Nast is making more moves than it has in years (maybe ever?). And it shows no signs of stopping.
Lookbook.nu, a successful five-year-old fashion blogging platform perhaps best known for its users’ hipster/indie aesthetic, has launched a scripted drama about the seedy (yes, seedy) world of personal style blogging. And…it might be my new favorite thing.
Has Chrissy Teigen found an Instagram Terms of Service loophole? The Sports Illustrated model posted a nudie pic (naturally) to celebrate her 200,000th follower and has yet to face the repercussions. {Gawker}
We’re starting to feel really bad for JCPenney. The struggling department store just laid off 2,200 employees in addition to the 19,000 it already let go in the course of its revamp. {HuffPo}
New face of Sheba cat food (yep) Eva Longoria is certainly taking her spokeswoman duties seriously: The actress showed up to a brand event with an actual feline in hand. {The Cut}
Tonight is the big premiere of The Carrie Diaries, the CW show that aims to tell the back story of New York’s favorite fictional sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw as young girl who apparently grew up in the Connecticut ‘burbs. With Gossip Girl star stylist Eric Daman on board to provide the beginnings of Carrie’s theatrical, over-the-top style, we have high hopes for the 80s-inspired clothing that young Carrie as played by AnnaSophia Robb will wear.
But as on-point as we’re sure the new show’s wardrobe will be, we’re having a hard time envisioning us trying to cop a 1980s teenager’s style–even if she is Carrie Bradshaw. So we thought we’d reminisce about the amazing outfits of OG CB, played to iconic perfection by Sarah Jessica Parker–and recreate them for all you modern-day Carries out there. Let’s be honest: Sex and the City might have been a story about a woman and her soul mates (and the men along the way), but her closet definitely deserved top billing.
From being mugged for her Manolos to passing out at the opera, here are our top ten Carrie Bradshaw style moments, and where to get ‘em for yourself. Don’t forget to check out The Carrie Diaries tonight on the CW (if you’re not too busy watching The Bachelor, which is sadly airing in the same time slot. Damn you, basic cable!).
We caught up with Carrie Diaries costume designer Eric Daman on what we can expect from the new series’s take on style icon Carrie Bradshaw–from 80s fashion to bra straps.
Pretty Little Liars costume designer Mandi Line described the show’s aesthetic best when, in an interview with CNN last September, she said: “Why be conservative about hemlines and heel heights on a show where a teacher is dating a student and a drunk girl can’t remember if she dug up her friend’s dead body?”

Farewell Gossip Girl: It’s really, really over, and some of us aren’t quite ready to let go. Check out our ode to Blair Waldorf and our salute to Serena van der Woodsen‘s gravity-defying cleavage. Also, why did the show end with the same song that closed out Sex and the City?
Get to Know the Newest Street Style Stars: Sure, we all know ADR by just her initials, but there’s a new pack of street stylers in town.
