What Do Your Shoes Say About You? Way More Than You Think, New Study Reveals

You know that old X-rated saying, “the bigger the shoes, the bigger the…” I think you know the rest. Anyway, there’s a new study out that proves you can actually tell a whole lot about a person from his or her shoes–personality-wise, that is.

Research conducted by The University of Kansas found that, when presented with photographs of complete strangers’ footwear, people could accurately determine up to 90% of the wearer’s self-described personality traits and economical demographics.

When it comes to being a Market Editor, Fashion Week is sort of like the Olympics. Just ask Glamour‘s Senior Fashion Market Editor, Madeline Andrews-Escudero, who, when she isn’t attending 16-18 presentations a day (wh-WHAT?), is kindly indulging lowly reporters from the back of a town car.

So while you may think all of that racing around would take all the pretty out of the NYFW experience, a week in Maddie’s versatile Rag & Bone platforms, which she (gasp!) has worn more than once this week, is full of beautiful sights– from bags and babies to…bacon.

Is there a career more dynamic than Kate Young‘s? From styling Teen Vogue‘s very first cover (a young Jessica Simpson cradled in the arms of then-boyfriend Nick Lachey) to dressing A-listers including Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman, the Brooklyn-based stylist has seen it all.

When I checked in with Kate early last Friday morning, our chat was nearly thwarted by my long distance phone number. “Sorry,” she apologized airily when we finally connected. “I thought you were calling from the Democratic Party to collect money.” Remind me to ditch those DC digits ASAP.

From behind the scenes as Macy’s INC’s Editor at Large to receiving personal tokens from Giambattista Valli himself, Kate filled us in on a typical week spent in her industrial Givenchy boots.

For our very first profile, we couldn’t think of anyone more fitting than Rachel-Zoe-protégé-turned-star-stylist, Brad Goreski.

From uncovering untapped talent (hello, Linda!) to lending a fellow stylist some last minute “blanky blank,” a week in Brad‘s world is basically one giant P.O.C (that’s Pop of Color, for the uninitiated.)

When we caught up with the talented Mr. Goreski in L.A. Thursday evening, he was prepping for four upcoming fittings. Ever the gentleman, he indulged us by recapping a week spent zigzagging the country in a pair of gingham (and gifted!) Louboutins.
