We’ve seen all the still shots from his H&M bodywear campaign, and word hit the streets a few weeks ago that a David Beckham for H&M commercial would be invading our TVs during the Super Bowl this Sunday. Could this be it? If so, what a lovely reprieve from watching grown men beat on each other. The guys have a few Adriana Lima commercials to drool over–this is infinitely better. Watch as David broods, flexes, and generally smolders. Oh, and there are some very strategic close-up shots of his, um, waistband too. (And lest you forget that he’s married, there’s also a wedding band shot.) Looking is fine, but no touching. Enjoy! Read more »

Based on the ads we’ve seen from American Apparel in the new year, it seemed it was fair to say the struggling hipster retailer was returning to its racy roots–each new ad more shocking and porn-y than the previous one. To wit: pantless models climbing trees, topless models painting their nails or riding a horse (like the one at right), and one model whose pubic hair shows through her white lace panties that got everyone else’s panties in a bunch.

The ads are unquestionably provocative and we questioned whether the near-bankrupt retailer was returning to their ’70s porn-esque advertising roots after a streak of more benign and conservative ads–including illustrated ones and one featuring founder Dov Charney working on his laptop–in an effort to drive up sales.

But a new ad set to run in an upcoming issue of VICE flies in the face of that theory. It features, well, no one. No partially nude barely legal college student, no Dov Charney, no one.

Sometimes a campaign is just about the clothes and nothing else and that’s a good thing. As it is here, in Proenza Schouler‘s spring campaign, showcasing one of the duo’s strongest collections to date. Willy Vanderperre shot the campaign, which stars Melissa Tammerijn and Julia Nobis looking awfully moody and intimate.

The spring ad campaigns keep pouring in, and in this behind-the-scenes video, we get to see how Ferragamo‘s seductively luxe campaign was made. Photographed by Mikael Jansson, models Daria Werbowy and Clement Chabernaud star as a fabulously wealthy–not to mention gorgeous–jet setting couple lounging lazily poolside in some very warm place. On this snowy day, we want to go to there. Watch and be transported.

Ann Taylor continues their revamp efforts (ok, sometimes we’ve called it their J.Crew-ification) with today’s announcement that Katie Holmes will be the new face of the workwear brand, WWD is reporting. The campaign will break in March magazines.

Holmes is a good fit to replace Heidi Klum: she’s a 32-year-old working mom whose style has settled into a place that’s clean and elegant but not too edgy or over-the-top and therefore accessible. Oh and also she’s gorgeous.

To that end she told WWD, “I’m glad that there is a store like Ann Taylor that can offer amazing styles for the many different roles that women play.”

But Holmes is not the only big celebrity campaign reveal today. Star-of-the-moment Natalie Portman‘s campaign for Miss Dior Cherie has also been revealed–and she’s wearing nothing but a Blair Waldorf-esque headband with a bow.

Star-spawn Rumer Willis also makes her modeling debut today as the face of Badgley Mischka.

Remember when it seemed like American Apparel was toning down their notoriously porn-y ads?

There was that ad that featured Dov Charney working on his laptop in bed flanked by his creative directors. Then there were those illustrated ads, that showed frontal nudity and pubes galore, but the girls were, you know, CARTOONS. We figured that was as far as American Apparel would go when it came to showing pubic hair. We were wrong!

We’re dying over the simple beauty of David Sims’ Chloe Spring 2011 adverts.
