Earlier this week the Skin Cancer Foundation issued a statement about the safety of UV gel manicures. Essentially they said the procedure–which involves sticking your hands under a UV light to set the polish–has a low, yet “not insignificant” risk for skin cancer, and recommended applying sunscreen before you get one of these manis. Up until this point, there had been inconclusive safety evidence for the procedure, but now that an official medical organization has weighed in, how (if at all) is the nail industry going to change its practices?
Expect the John Galliano vs. Dior labor dispute case to drag on for quite a while. In the latest development, the suit is moving to a French appeals court because the two sides are still splitting hairs over whether the case should be heard in a labor court, or a commercial court. That’s right–there’s yet to be a single argument heard.
The Kardashian sisters may need to put their well-coiffed heads together and come up with a new name for their recently launched cosmetics range, Khroma. Following a lawsuit filed in January, a judge just ruled that the brand can’t use the name because it is too similar to another cosmetics brand, Kroma (no ‘H’).
