Adventures In Copyright: The Bunny Bag Edition

Reader Angie tipped us off to his rather upsetting Adventures In Copyright.

It seems that See by Chloe has blatantly ripped off Mandy Coon’s “Ginny Bunny Bag.” Both bags are black leather, and in the shape of bunny. We wonder though, how the quality of the leather compares among the two bags. The only noticeable difference between the two is that the original bag has a gold chain while the See by Chloe bag has a wrist band.

Either way, it’s always disappointing to see big labels rip off smaller, independently-owned labels. Especially when the knocked-off piece looks exactly the same as the original. Then again, both bags kind of remind us of those coveted Giles dinosaurs bags.

Lauren Moffatt Spring 2011: The Honeymooner

Lauren Moffatt launched in 2000 when the designer and her partner, Rob Pepin, met at school in Philadelphia and started their own vintage-inspired collection.

For the first two seasons, Moffatt sewed and constructed all the pieces from her home, which believe it or not, was a 31-foot sailboat docked on New York City’s Hudson River. That’s amazing.

Since their days on the Hudson, the line has evolved while still remaining true to their original aesthetic.

Their Spring 2011 collection, “The Honeymooner,” is filled with fun patterns, colors, and details. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces from their amazing lookbook, which was styled by Michel Onofrio.

Lanvin x H&M Drama: When Jennifer Lopez and Madonna both asked to “borrow” (i.e. have it before anyone else) pieces from the Lanvin x H&M collection, they were told that no one was allowed to wear the collection before the runway show on November 18. If this is true, then why were a few British celebs pictured wearing pieces from the collection at London’s Lanvin preview? Sure, Roisin Murphy and Sohpie Ellis-Bextor are celebs, but they’re no Madonna. What gives? {Elle}

Armani’s Doing 3-D Glasses, Too

Yesterday, we told you about Gucci’s $225 3-D glasses. Well, it seems Armani has hopped on this very new bandwagon as well.

Today the global fashion label announced it would also be releasing 3-D unisex glasses, set to hit US stores this December. The glasses, which were modeled after the ’80s popular navigator style, have a crystal gray plastic front, and shiny black metal temples.

Who is going to buy these things? Who knows. But here’s some good news: They’re being released through A/X Armani Exchange, which means they’re only $58. Take that, GG. Let the 3-D glasses war begin.

Fashion News Roundup: Nordstrom To NYC, What Designers Will Wear on Halloween, & An Isabella Blow Biopic Is In The Works

SoHo Gets a Nordstrom: New York City is finally getting a Nordstrom. Except it’s not just any ordinary Nordstom–it’s a concept shop with a charity angle. The store will donate all of its earnings to charity. While most of the details are not yet worked out, the store will occupy 11,100 square feet at 350 West Broadway. {Racked}

When Designers Get Into Costume: With Halloween only a few days away, T Magazine asked some of their favorite designers what they were going to be for Halloween. Pamela Love is going as Georgia O’Keeffe, Joseph Altuzarra will dress as wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, Eddie Borgo is going to go as Pee Wee Herman and Chris Benz is deciding between a matador and a bellhop . {T Magazine}

Isabella Blow Biopic: There has been a lot of rumors surrounding the making of a biopic focusing on the life of the late Isabella Blow. Apparently, it’s really happening. The film’s director and producers have all been chosen, and the screenplay has already been written. Set to be involved in the film are John Galliano and Philip Treacy, both who were very close to Blow. {The Cut}
