Jane and Judy Aldridge Sell Their Own Collection Of Vintage For WGACA

I’ve never been one to consistently follow another person’s life. I don’t have a TV, so I can’t indulge in reality shows like The City, and most personal style blogs interest me for a minute until I get bored and move on.

However, I have one exception, and that is Sea of Shoes. Whether it’s because of Jane‘s enviable shoe collection, or her quirky obsession with bugs, I find myself intrigued by her life. So, I think it’s safe to say, I’m a fan. A big one.

Brood Spring 2011: Serkan Sarier Impresses the Heavy Hitters

Stepping into Brood’s Spring 2011 presentation was like stepping into an elite club where only the fashion industries heavy-hitters were welcome. Sally Singer, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, and Mario Grauso were all in attendance.

Honestly, nothing less should have been expected. After all, Brood is is the brainchild of Serkan Sarier, a graduate from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp–one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. Some notable grads of the Royal Academy include Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, and Martin Margiela, so you can imagine what editors expect from an Antwerp scholar.

Fashion News Roundup: Olivier Theyskens Named Creative Director at Theory, A Look at Kate Moss’s Last Topshop Collection & Kelly Osbourne’s Clothing Line

Olivier Theyskens Lands at Theory: Theyskens charmed the fashion world with his designs for Nina Ricci and Rochas, and now he’ll be designing for the business-chic masses as Theory’s new artistic director. This is in addition to his Theyskens for Theory collaboration line for Spring 2011. Not exactly what we expected from the Victorian/Goth-inspired designer, but hey, a job’s a job and this seems like a good one. {WWD subscription required}

Express Runway: Rock The Sidewalk

Express Runway: Rock The Sidewalk

Express decided to do things differently for their Spring/Summer 2011 show. Hitting the streets of Manhattan’s Flat Iron District, the brand turned the corner of Broadway and 23rd Street into a public fashion show, inviting everyone to watch. As curiosity built up, a crowd of tourists, teens, and even nearby food vendors started to gather along the catwalk. By the the time the first model stomped the runway, we had ourselves a full-on outdoor fashion show–eclectic crowd and all.

Would You Rather?…The Bad Ass Stripper Edition
Gratuitous Taylor Momsen Post of the Day

Would You Rather?…The Bad Ass Stripper Edition

Taylor Momsen
gracefully covered Revolver magazine’s October issue sporting a garter belt, stripper-esque platforms, and knee-high stockings. When we saw Anna Chapman, the Russian spy who was caught and deported from the US, on the cover of Russian Maxim, we couldn’t help but notice a striking similarity. Which of these two classy ladies would you like protecting you from the bad guys?

Fashion News Roundup: Bob Guccione Passes Away, Alexander Wang Pre-Sale, and ADR’s Headpiece Blocks the Sartoralist’s View

The Racked 38: Racked has updated their “Racked 38″–a definitive list of New York City’s shopping experiences. Some stores that made the list: Housing Works, Trash & Vaudeville, Patricia Field, and Opening Ceremony. {Racked}

Bob Guccione Passes Away: Bob Guccione, the man best known for establishing the men’s magazine Penthouse (but for our purposes, he’s the man who launched Anna Wintour’s career), has passed away of throat cancer. Guccione gave Wintour her first job in the magazine industry in the late 1970′s when he hired her as the fashion editor of his adult magazine, Viva. {People}

Alexander Wang Pre-sale: Opening Ceremony has announced their pre-sale of Alexander Wang’s Spring 2011 collection. The pre-sale will begin on October 25 on Opening Ceremony’s website, and will offer select looks from the designers collection. So, if you’re into white and have some spare change to drop on a white paint-splatter dress, then start counting down the days. {Opening Ceremony}

The Ladies Of Mad Men: A Style Evolution

The Ladies Of Mad Men: A Style Evolution

Since Mad Men hit the air in 2007, it feels like half of the praise the show receives is about its stunning–and stunningly accurate–costumes.

And if you read our Mad Men Style Recaps, you know we’re big fans of the woman behind those wares, costume designer Janie Bryant. But while we’ve documented the on-air style of Mad Men‘s women quite regularly, we’ve been fairly quiet about what they wear off screen. Thus, in honor of last night’s season finale, we’ve tracked the evolution of their red carpet style.
