There’s More to Taking the Perfect Street Style Shot Than Pointing and Shooting

There’s More to Taking the Perfect Street Style Shot Than Pointing and Shooting

Patience really is a virtue in terms of street style photography for me, as well as the subject in front of my lens: No matter how quickly I stop someone and they’re ready to be shot, it often takes much longer for me to feel I’ve shown the subject in the best light possible (literally and figuratively) and to be 100% satisfied with the images I’ve captured. On top of that, a three hour jaunt around the city sometimes only results in finding one subject! It’s really a test of patience on both ends of the spectrum.

There’s usually something that grabs me about a person–that makes me want to look a bit longer; inspires me to shoot her. Take for example, this girl Shine.

Rihanna and Anne Hathaway To Cover Vogue‘s November and December Issues

We often get tipped off about which celeb will cover an upcoming Vogue issue before it hits newsstands. Our sources are pretty good. Would You Put Snail Slime On Your Face? A New Line of Skincare Products Hopes So

Thanks to technology, there’s no shortage of weird things you can put on your face in the quest for clearer, brighter, plumper, blemish-free skin. There’s Nightingale bird poop (Tom Cruise enjoys a facial full of it), bee venom (the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of this cream by beautician Deborah Mitchell), mud (see: every blemish-clearing mask), and now, there’s snail slime. Call it the slow beauty movement: Snail slime is being touted as a miracle face-fixer.

Snail creams have been around for years–they’re very popular in Korea, where beauty brand Missha first introduced a snail cream, snail serum, and sleeping mask–and Dr. Jart, who’s claim to fame is introducing BB creams to the US market, just launched a skincare line made with snail mucin.

Finding Street Style Inspiration with Canon

Finding Street Style Inspiration with Canon

Street style photography in its truest form is, for the most part, unpredictable. It’s subject to the elements, and the only constants in the equation are you and your camera. You can’t control the temperature, the direction of the sun and you can’t know who or what you’re going to shoot until you head out onto the streets in search of your next subject. A subject may reveal themselves to you after just a few minutes on the streets or 5 hours (and many blisters) into your hunt or, sometimes …not at all. Either way, there’s a certain element of the unknown that comes with street style. And that’s the most exciting and frightening part about it.
