Lady Gaga Sued Her Own Fan Site: Gaga’s team sued the operators of LadyGaga.org (est: 2008) claiming they “intentionally registered the domain name to capitalize on Lady Gaga’s fame.” But the site doesn’t actually make any money, only gives love to their Queen, so the courts ruled against it. Odd for someone who claims to love her fans so much, don’t you think? {Styleite}

Gucci Spring 2012: Twenties Bling

Gucci Spring 2012: Twenties Bling

MILAN–Like Hermès, Gucci’s mission (or fate) is to forever reinvent horseback riding chic. This season, it did so by introducing a clear, precise palette: black, white, green, bling.

Like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde collection, the line seemed split into two opposing personalities. The daywear consisted of masculine silhouettes, mainly composed of suits–cropped jackets, green geometric motifs, gold buttons, and side zips that flared out at the trousers’ otherwise straight ankles. As for nighttime, the decisively more girly looks made a straightforward reference to 1920s flappers: fringed hems, drop waists and loose sleeveless tops.

Nicola Formichetti on His New Sportswear Line for Uniqlo and His Own Line, Which He Hope to Launch Next Year

Nicola Formichetti on His New Sportswear Line for Uniqlo and His Own Line, Which He Hope to Launch Next Year

Nicola Formichetti has been on a roll lately. He just opened his pop-up shop, Nicola’s, on Walker Street in Tribeca to great fanfare (and a bangin’ party), selling everything from stuffed pandas to Gaga memorabilia to, now, Uniqlo. Today, Nicola’s became host to Formichetti’s new collaboration line with the Japanese mega-brand (for whom he’s the fashion director), a sportswear line called The Innovation Project that uses Uniqlo’s highly developed fabrics to make basic, easily wearable clothing.

It’s quite a departure from Formichetti’s usual robots-in-bondage type stuff; cranberry puffy nylon winter parkas, lime green HeatTech fleece pullovers and snowy white windbreakers don’t exactly scream the kind of stuff he’s been doing for Thierry Mugler. The attention to detail does, however, like the zippers which can pull apart Hulk-style to make shedding layers easier on athletes. The price point is fitting for the pop-up as well; prices don’t rise above $200, even for the parkas.

I got the chance to chat with Formichetti about his partnership with Uniqlo, his store, and what he has planned for the future (hint: he’s working on his own brand!).

The Blonds and Jeremy Scott Spring 2012: Hooray for Ass-less Chaps and Playboy Bunnies on the Runway

Sometimes, you need a little break from the “serious” fashion. All “sophisticated minimalism” and the “new modern silhouette” makes fashion a dull girl (or boy). Fashion is fun! It shouldn’t be technical all the time. Luckily, we have The Blonds and Jeremy Scott to look forward to each season to slap us in the face when we start to get a little bleary eyed. Check out the reviews and pictures from The Blonds sparkly Katy-Perry-meets-Gaga leotards and micro-minidresses and Jeremy Scott’s Vegas-sexy wild West vacation wear. These clothes may not be practical, or even really wearable (unless you’re a Playboy Bunny, I guess), but they are a lot of fun to look at when monochrome pantsuits are getting you down.
