Kylie Minogue entrusted Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (for the third time) to create show-stopping numbers for her “Les Folies” tour. It kicks off today in Milan and follows the release of her latest album, Aphrodite.

The entire wardrobe was built around a golden corset that the Australian pop icon will actually be able to move in as she performs her clubby songs. Each garment is a reinterpretation of one of Dolce & Gabbana‘s most iconic pieces. The result is an array of frothy and flashy pieces that Aphrodite herself would undoubtedly approve.

Watch Minogue test drive the costumes with the designers and click through to see the singer pose in a few of the final products.

Angels clad in sequin mini-dresses appeared at the Victoria’s Secret store in SoHo earlier this week to celebrate the launch of the new Incredible Bra collection and fragrance. Chanel Iman, Adriana Lima, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, and Candice Swanepoel greeted guests and posed for pictures as we discovered what’s so “incredible” about the lingerie brand’s new products.

The collection features two new styles–the Front-Close Push-Up and Front-Close Multi-way, that we were invited to test drive. We ended up walking away with the Front Close Push-up, that, at the risk of sounding corny, truly is kind of incredible. It’s super comfortable without being frumpy. The bra is racer back with self-adjusting straps so we’ll never again have to worry about looking tacky in tank tops with exposed loose straps hanging off of our shoulder.

The Incredible fragrance is a step up from Victoria’s Secret’s standard body sprays. Packaged in a pink glass bottle, the scent is a mixture of magnolia, pear, and sandalwood. The perfume is fruity, feminine, and surprisingly clean smelling.

The Incredible collection is available online, in the catalogs, and in stores nationwide.

Before They Were Street Style Stars

Wednesday, Mar 2, 2011 / 5:25 PM

It’s hard to believe there was ever a time that Anna Dello Russo didn’t walk around with cherries on top of her head, or that Taylor Tomasi-Hill wasn’t impeccably layered behind cat-eye shades.

In the past few years, street style blogs like the Sartorialist, Jak & Jil, and Street Peeper have propelled a group of flawlessly and outrageously dressed editors and it-girls to rock star status, their outfits documented by throngs of style paparazzi each time they leave the office.

We unearthed snapshots of seven prominent street style icons when they were just names on a masthead. We (and our self-esteem) were surprised and relieved to find that the style of these ladies was once not so different from the rest of ours. Street Style Stars: They Used to Be Just Like Us!

My biggest secret is that I have curly hair. Thanks to my trusty flat-iron, I’ve been frizz-free for as long as I can remember. However, like I’m sure my fellow curly girls out there know, straightening your hair is no easy feat. It’s a long and tedious process, and when humidity strikes, all of your hard work goes right out the window.

So naturally, I was thrilled when I received a Brazilian Blowout for my birthday last year. I instantly became obsessed with my silky new locks that required minimal flat-iron time, but I wasn’t so crazy about the dangerous levels of formaldehyde in the treatment or the $400+ price tag.

After three months of bliss, it was depressing to go back to my hour-long morning hair routine after my sleek tresses converted back to their unruly ways. Luckily, my frizzy-headed prayers were answered last week when I found out that Lasio Inc., a brand known for for their Brazilian hair straightening treatments, had come up with the Keratin Tropic, a treatment that claims to be 100% formaldehyde-free, and is priced at a modest $250.

Although slightly skeptical of this wonder product, I headed downtown to Lasio’s East Village salon to see how the treatment stacked up to the Brazilian.

Right off the bat, I asked my friendly hairdresser, Candy, the tough questions. She assured me that instead of formaldehyde, Lasio uses Euxol 702, a skin-friendly liquid cosmetic preservative. The only other minor differences between a Brazilian Blowout and the Tropic are lifespan (the Tropic will last 2-3 months as opposed to 3-4), and curl reduction (the Tropic cuts down 60% of curl while the BB knocks out 80%). Both reduce frizz by 100%.

After washing my hair, Candy applied the coconut scented formula with a spray bottle and brushed it through. The skin on my scalp felt tingly, but it didn’t irritate my skin or make my eyes bloodshot, like the Brazilian Blowout formula had done—a clear indication that perhaps the Tropic truly is formaldehyde-free.

With a quick blow dry and flat iron, my hair was transformed into an Herbal Essences-like mane–shiny, smooth, long, and voluminous. Candy didn’t even try to hawk me overpriced aftercare shampoo and conditioner. My only instructions were to wash my hair three times a week with sulfate-free products.

A week later, I can confidently say that I’m a Tropic convert. I’m able to go from curly to straight in less than ten minutes, and instead of being stick straight, my hair has body and movement that Willow Smith would definitely approve of.

Geren Ford Fall 2011: China Discovery

Thursday, Feb 24, 2011 / 2:02 PM

On a trip to Shanghai last year, L.A. based designer Geren Ford discovered a little-known Chinese artist, LanLan, whose work dates back to the 1930s–an era of style that fits perfectly with Ford’s effortlessly elegant yet simple aesthetic.

After a visit to her showroom in SoHo this week, we learned that LanLan’s paintings and travels to Paris inspired Ford’s latest collection.

Loose-fitting trousers in fuchsia, navy, and black were paired with feminine tanks adorned with ruffles and bows. LanLan’s luggage played muse to leather jackets and mini skirts in a creamy burnt amber hue. Ford takes a cue from 1930s style by giving basic sweaters and henley shirts sex appeal with inserts of sheer fabrics.

Our favorite piece was a blue printed maxi dress with a dolman sleeve and slit up the front that we instantly fell in love with.

Pilati Isn’t Going Anywhere: YSL confirmed via Twitter today that the rumor that this would be Stefano Pilati’s last season at YSL is just that–a rumor. “From YSL HQ in Paris… Pilati busy working on the next collection. All the rumors unfounded – he is here to stay,” the tweet read. Rumors always come from somewhere, and this one’s been floating around for a while. But we’ve got to believe YSL, and hope Pilati blows us out of the water with his fall collection next week. {@Y_S_L}

Rodarte

Over the past five years, Target’s GO International designer collections have really enhanced our wardrobes without depleting our bank accounts. But the most coveted pieces from each collection have always flown off the shelves, and there are some dresses that we just couldn’t manage to get our hands on.

Luckily, Target has introduced the GO International Designer Collective, where they’ve given us a second chance to pick up dresses from past collaborations with Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Rodarte, Thakoon, and many more.

A few months ago we predicted which designs we hoped would make the cut. Sadly only a couple of our selections (the Rodarte slip dress and the Thakoon tie-waist frock) are among the collection of 34 reissued dresses (all priced under $50!), but there are still plenty of cute pieces to go around including Jovovich-Hawk mini dresses and floral print shifts from Tucker and Tracy Feith.

So here’s your second chance–the collection will be available on March 13th at Target.com and in store until April 10th or, as we’ve learned the hard way, until supplies last.

Click through to browse the complete re-released collection.
