If the Sofia Coppola-directed commercial, look book, celeb-studded launch party, and Russian Vogue spread weren’t enough to make you long for the forthcoming Marni for H&M collection, these additional campaign images will. Read more »

Two blond ladies from somewhat opposite ends of the spectrum, career-wise and age-wise, star in the latest campaign for Uniqlo. Echoing the presumably diverse age range of Uniqlo’s customer base, there’s 15-year-old Tavi Gevinson and 58-year-old Cyndi Lauper (though Lauper might say they’re the same age at heart). The supermodels return: Yesterday it was Linda Evangelista in Love, and today it’s Helena Christensen in Reeboks…and little else. The 43-year-old super gives Karlie Kloss a (leggy) run for her money in a bandage bodysuit and sneakers. Christensen was in a Reebok ad back in 2010, where she wore absolutely nothing except sneakers and a growl, so this ad is tame by comparison. Read more »

JC Penney made headlines after announcing its new retailing plans last week–which include a shop-in-shop concept, decreasing baseline pricing, and hiring Ellen DeGeneres as its spokesperson. And now JCP finds itself in the middle of a controversy, thanks to an anti-gay group who’s offended that the company chose to use the openly gay DeGeneres as a spokesperson, the Cut is reporting.

The conservative group, One Million Moms, posted a statement on its website denouncing the retailer. Take a deep breath, because its small-mindedness (like calling this issue a “culture war”) is going to really piss you off. Or at least it should:

Diane von Furstenberg just unveiled her spring ad campaign, and it’s one of the more visually jarring ones we’ve seen this season. Shot by Camilla Akrans, the ads are an ode to surrealist painters. The ads are so surreal, in fact, that you can’t see the model’s face. Instead, the face is covered with a mirror, which reflects the sky. Von Furstenberg also hopes you see yourself in the image, wearing that wrap dress. “I like that you can see yourself in these images,” she told WWD. “This time for me is all about new beginnings.” Read more »

He may not be playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday but Denver Broncos’ QB Tim Tebow still has plenty of opportunity to show off his, um, talents with a new gig as the face of Jockey Underwear, reports The Huffington Post.

But unlike male hussies David Beckham and Jim Palmer that came before him, devoutly Christian Tebow is keeping it pure of heart and won’t be dropping his pants for the new campaign. “Some things are better when left to the imagination,” Mo Moorman, public relations director for Jockey International, said. Well, sure, except for maybe when the thing being left to the imagination is, you know, the product you’re trying to sell. Read more »

We loved it on the runway, and we loved it in the print ads–and now we love it all over again in the campaign video, shot by Steven Meisel. Yep, Prada’s Spring 2012 ’50s Americana-inspired collection is the gift that keeps on giving. Watch as models Meghan Collison, Natasha Poly, Elise Crombez, Ymre Stiekema and Kathryn Kruger take over the chicest gas station we’ve ever seen, primp in car mirrors and generally toss bitchy looks at one another–or as press release describes it, “A virtual collage of feminine film iconography unfolds in this hyper-real gas station fantasy.”

Fashion videos have become a requisite promotional component for any major brand launching a new collection–in addition to the standard print ads. But while some brands just shoot b-role of the making of the print ads and call it a day, others put a lot of effort, resources and creative talent into these fashion flicks. And all that effort pays off–video sharing has grown exponentially in the last five years, which means a video only has to go viral on the web to reach millions (as opposed to a brand shelling out for a big budget TV commercial). This fashion film to promote the debut of Victoria Beckham’s new lower priced line, Victoria, on sale in the US in mid February, is easily among the best we’ve ever seen (and we’re not saying that just because there are cats, swear).

It’s directed by 27-year-old Quentin Jones (yes, she’s just 27), whom Beckham collaborated with before for on a video for AnOther Magazine that highlighted her denim collection. It’s quirky and clever and I’ve already hit replay several times. You probably will, too. Click through to see it.

Another week, another batch of super-cool Spring 2012 ad campaigns! Today we take a look at ads from Kenzo (colorful and punchy), Stella McCartney (baby-faced Natalia Vodianova amidst cartoon flowers), Missoni (shot by Jurgen Teller and wonderfully quirky), Carven (weirdly abstract), Reed Krakoff (glamorous candid Karen Elson) and True Religion (all American style). Click through to see them all. Which one is your favorite? Read more »

We’ve seen all the still shots from his H&M bodywear campaign, and word hit the streets a few weeks ago that a David Beckham for H&M commercial would be invading our TVs during the Super Bowl this Sunday. Could this be it? If so, what a lovely reprieve from watching grown men beat on each other. The guys have a few Adriana Lima commercials to drool over–this is infinitely better. Watch as David broods, flexes, and generally smolders. Oh, and there are some very strategic close-up shots of his, um, waistband too. (And lest you forget that he’s married, there’s also a wedding band shot.) Looking is fine, but no touching. Enjoy! Read more »

If you doubted that Absolutely Fabulous was going to be able to stage a comeback, well, you’re wrong. They pulled off a successful Christmas special (featuring Stella McCartney nonetheless), more episodes are forthcoming, and a feature film is reportedly in the works. So what now?

The AbFab ladies just scored an advertising campaign with jeweler Alexis Bittar. Vogue UK caught up with the ladies and designer at the campaign shoot. Read more »

First Look: Marni for H&M Campaign

Friday, Jan 27, 2012 / 9:00 AM

This has been a big week for collaboration and diffusion line reveals–Karl for Karl Lagerfeld just launched, Jason Wu for Target was feted last night, and we got a sneak peek at Doo.Ri for Macy’s this week, too. But don’t forget about H&M’s next big collaboration (and arguably the one we’re most excited about) with Marni. The collection launches March 8 and the Fashion Spot dug up this campaign image.

We have no confirmation on this, but TFS commenters theorize that it looks like Brit actress (and face of Chloé’s fragrance), Imogen Poots. Read more »
