Fashion junkies around the city had one big question after reading Emily Nussbaum's
Sex and the City article in
New York this week:
Who was the crazy denim publicist who stalked SJP through the West Village to hand her a pair of really cute jeans?
We had our suspicions, and now they're confirmed:
The Blue Jean Baby was Misty Twigg, the senior publicist for MiH Jeans, which are actually our favorite ones ever.
Just as Misty told SJP, four times, you can buy them at Intermix.
Giggle giggle giggle.

More proof that we're the fashion
Gossip Girl:
Random FIT students keep sending us camera phone photos of celebrities.
At left is our latest acquisition, a photo of Giorgio Armani sitting on an FIT panel on Seventh Avenue, taken about fifteen minutes ago.
Superintern Brett is on the case, and he'll be back with a full report later.
In the meantime, let's discuss whether Mr. Armani's super power is a Kriptonic orange glow also known as perma-tan...

Just saw Serena, Chuck, Nate, Eric, Lily, Bart, and Queen B at the Palace for Lily and Barts's wedding!
Queen B was wearing a hot pink floral dress and a hot pink headband and flats.
No Jenny or Dan - significant?
Even stranger: Lily wasn't wearing a wedding dress, but Bart was in his tux. Weird wedding.
xoxoB
Thanks for the spot - you might like this, too, though we don't know how much of a surprise it is...

I saw Lily Cole walking around the NYU buildings this afternoon.
This is the third time I've seen her around there or in Washington Sq. Park in the past week.
Is she taking classes at NYU???
Obviously, Tisch and Gallatin kids, we're expecting you to spill and spill now.
Is Lily Cole in your advanced physics class? Have you seen her running laps with the track club? Is she pulling all nighters in Starbucks with an anthropology textbook? Seriously, what's going on.

Spotted:
Chloe Sevigny heading uptown on the R train, looking so relaxed and chic.
She must have been shopping but I couldn't see what was on the bag she had in between her feet.
Interesting that she's in town, considering it's campaign season.
She isn't shooting anything right now...
Is she?

Those based in Soho, New York may have wondered why Louis Vuitton felt it necessary to hoist
another giant banner proclaiming their store on Greene Street.
The answer, of course, is show business.
For the next week-ish, Amy Adams and Meryl Streep will be on the street, filming the new romantic comedy, Julie & Julia. The movie is based on the book, which is based on what happened when one chick decides to cook through everything Julia Child has ever made. Amy Adams plays the girl; Meryl Streep plays the chef.
But it looks like "Julie" gets other distractions besides cooking - there's a giant lighting set up right outside the LV boutique, and Amy's trailer is parked just outside, so it seems she'll shop as well as souffle (hopefully the Proenza boys won't get jealous.)
If only LV made monogrammed aprons... oh wait, they probably do.

Pic of a Rolls was on Hedi's photo blog. This dude has a pic of Hedi he took in a gas station with the Rolls, a silver Spur. Will try to find it for you guys.
He says Hedi owns a few of them, t rex style.

Wow, we had no idea some of you guys were as into this as we are - so here you go, a picture of Hedi's car, above. Maybe he's trying to send us a message with that picture on his blog?
Or maybe we shouldn't egg people on to take surreptitious pictures of him while he waits for his gas? Nah, we still want to know what he's doing in California...

Just saw Hedi Slimane on Melrose driving an 80's Black Rolls Royce.
So cool!
Indeed, but the question is, where did he get the money for a vintage Rolls, and also, what is he doing in Los Angeles?!
Somebody please ask him when you see him at The Grove.

Okay?

Another one for the model trackers:
Ali Michael was spotted at Blue Ribbon Sushi in Brooklyn this weekend with three friends and her mom, MaryAnn.
Does that mean our favorite brunette is back on the campaign trail?
We really hope so -
After deciding to cut her Paris trip short instead of wilting herself down to willow standards, Ali (along with Erin O'Connor) has become something of a poster girl for healthy models in the fashion world. It would be neat if she could transcend that status and become an actual poster girl for big brands like Calvin Klein or Nina Ricci, too.
Good luck, Ali!

Yo Fashionista,
I saw Scott "The Sartorialist" Schuman walking around Yale today
followed by a crowd of lit majors wearing a uniform of skinny jeans,
chunky heels, excessive scarfs and creative bracelets.
So keep an eye out for preppy art kids and blue blooded trust fund princesses in the
next few days.
It seems like the blogging has already started, but what, exactly, is Scott doing down there? Another college photo shoot for W magazine, like the Pittsburgh one they did two years ago?

Where in the world is Hedi Slimane?
I saw your post about Hedi in California, and it's true!
I spotted him on Melrose Ave. last Tuesday the 25.
I said hello.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera and was to much in awe to do anything else =(
[Editor's note: You should have bought him baby food!]
Mar 31, 2008 @ 11:13am

Question:
What's Hedi Slimane doing in Los Angeles?
We got some e-mails spotting the former Dior Homme designer in various L.A. hot spots.
Is he casting more skinny boys for an upcoming photo exhibit?
Or is there something more business-worthy going on?
Hit us up if you know - tips@fashionista.com - and if you see Mr. Slimane and want to talk to him, here's a hint:
Bring him a jar of baby food and you'll have his heart forever.

Are skinny jeans going away?
Absolutely not, and here's the proof:
We just spotted French Vogue goddess Carine Roitfeld and her lovely daughter Julia shopping at the Ksubi store in Soho.
There are many things beloved by Ksubi fans, including their scandalous fluorescent miniskirts, their outrageous sunglasses, and their new "secret" bar in a basement.
But the trademark Ksubi thing that tops them all is jeans so vacuum sealed that - much like those classic Balenciaga leggings - you've got to oil yourself in and out of them.
Which we're happy to do for another few seasons, as long as we can have a big shaggy Chris Benz coat on top of them.

Really random but thought you'd love my spot of yesterday:
I saw Heather Mills trying on Stella sandals, trying them out to see if they were okay with her fake leg!!!!!!!!!
Just something funny I thought I'd email you!!!
Are you coming over for London Fashion Week again? The shows are gonna be super this season!!!

First reports are in from Harvey Weinstein's wedding on Saturday to Georgina Chapman, a designer for Marchesa.
The couple were married in Connecticut, with a reception catered by Cipriani and a guest list of attending starlets and fashion notables including the following:
Anna Wintour
Anne Hathaway (who wore Marchesa, good girl)
Cameron Diaz
Eva Mendes
Glenda Bailey
Helena Christiansen
Jacquetta Wheeler
Jennifer Lopez
Kerry Washington
Natalia Vodianova
Renee Zellweger
We hear that Vogue also has an exclusive to cover the event, which would mean more of their reporters may have also been on scene. Absent was Lindsay Lohan, despite the fact that she represented Marchesa with the designers at the Costume Institute Ball two years ago.
Marchesa's co-designer Keren Craig was the maid of honor, in a dress of her own design. The bride also wore Marchesa, and now we imagine, so will a lot of other wedding-day women.
Pin-Up
I just went to the shop and it is gone! But it looks like she has moved locations to inafrenzy.etsy....
