For the second week in a row, we are amazed that any celebrities found clothes to wear outside of Cannes, but they did! Events for Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney and Coach drew particularly well-heeled crowds. From Agyness Deyn to Zooey Deschanel to new Mad Men star Alexis Bledel, click through to see our picks for non-Cannes best dressed of the week! Read more »

Could this be the next Elle Fanning/Hailee Steinfeld? We’re thinking yes. Don’t worry–we still love Elle (she better start making some more red carpet appearances once school’s out!). But 13-year-old Kara Hayward, who just this year filmed her first movie, went to Cannes for the first time and wore a head-to-toe Louis Vuitton look designed custom for her by Marc Jacobs, is definitely one to watch. Here’s What Bjork Wore to the Webby Awards

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 / 12:00 PM

Last night, the Webby Awards took place here in NYC. We didn’t win anything, though we were selected as an Official Honoree in the fashion category (thanks, Webbys!). Fashion winners included SHOWStudio for the official Webby and, for the second year in a row, Vogue.com got the People’s Voice award. While sadly, we were not treated to a second witty five-word acceptance speech by Anna Wintour this year (the EIC was a no-show), Bjork was there. So that’s guaranteed entertainment. Read more »

The Zuckerberg Wedding Gown Is Going Viral

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 / 11:15 AM

She may be an unlikely style icon but Priscilla Chan (aka the new Mrs. Mark Zuckerberg) is causing a bit of wedding gown feeding frenzy. After the couple’s surprise and low-key nuptials were announced via Facebook over the weekend, details about the wedding started to emerge yesterday.

LA-based designer Claire Pettibone designed the lacy beaded dress, and she was completely unaware that Chan was going to wear the gown, according to Buzzfeed Shift. There were no consultations, and when asked where Chan bought the dress (which has been in the collection for about two years), Pettibone told Shift, “We’re honestly not sure. I think she may not have used her actual name.” Traffic to Pettibone’s website spiked to ten times the usual amount, and she said the boutiques that carry her designs are understandably thrilled about all the press the dress and Pettibone are getting. WWD reported that 14 stores wanted to order the dress on Monday, and more are expected to follow suit this week. Read more »

Mulberry may have been the first high-end brand to cash in on Lana Del Rey’s sultry signature style, but it turns out that getting a $1,000+ namesake bag wasn’t the crooner’s first collaboration. A video from 2009 has recently surfaced of a young and much-less-polished looking LDR, hawking some customized sneakers she designed for Keds Collective, a now-defunct program. (Keds confirms that it is indeed Lana Del Rey.)

The 50-second clip shows a bleach-blonde Lana frolicking around Coney Island, sporting a floral dress, Lolita-esque heart shaped sunnies, and beige lace-up Keds. Oh, and she quotes Francis Ford Coppola, too.

The singer introduces herself here as Lana Del Rey, but she still obviously hasn’t made the full transformation from “Lizzy Grant”–a transformation that’s been both well-documented and widely criticized by detractors. The flowing brunette locks, plumped-up lips, and ’60s style that have come to represent the “Gangsta Nancy Sinatra” are all noticeably absent. (And check out the big square acrylic nails, eek.)

Watch the video of little Lana below. Which incarnation of Lana/Lizzy do you like better? Read more »

According to a Facebook status update by Mark Zuckerberg, the social network founder tied the knot with his girlfriend Priscilla Chan on Saturday. The couple had an IRL wedding, for which Zuckerberg went hoodie-free and Chan wore a lacey white gown, which we finally have all the details on. Read more »

You’d think this past week was stressful enough for Mark Zuckerberg, what with taking his company public and all, but Facebook‘s founder apparently was unruffled enough by all the commotion to get married on Saturday. Yes, the gazillionaire wunderkind and hoodie aficionado wed his long-time girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, in a backyard ceremony at their house in Palo Alto, US Weekly is reporting.

The gathering was ostensibly meant to be a party for Chan, who just graduated from medical school, but guests were surprised when the affair ended up being a wedding. The world found out when the groom–appropriately enough–updated his Facebook profile. The most shocking part of all this? ZUCKERBERG DID NOT WEAR A HOODIE. Read more »

Believe it or not, there was a little glamour to be found outside of Cannes this week. Rachel Bilson made a welcome return to the red carpet at The CW upfronts in Chanel (and, yes, Heart of Dixie has been picked up for a second season). Kristen Stewart has been looking good, if painfully awkward at SWATH premieres. And the verdict is still up in the air regarding Jessica Stam’s dark hair, but she looked pretty good in red Valentino at the American Ballet Theater opening gala on Monday. All that and more in our 10 best dressed of the week. Click on through to see them all! Read more »

It looks like the Cannes International Film Festival might soon be known as the Kannes International Film Festival. As reported by Pitchfork, Kanye West (the newly minted Mr. Kim Kardashian– by us, right now) is set to premiere a “short art film” in the south of France next Wednesday, May 23. Entitled “Cruel Summer,” Kanye’s newest non-musical venture is apparently an “immersive seven-screen experience, unlike anything West has attempted before.”

Who knows what this latest foray into the world of multimedia art could mean for Kanye West’s Parisian design aspirations (which have been universally panned by everyone who matters), but we know one thing: Kim Kardashian is koming to Kannes!

Chloe Sevigny has been pretty vocal lately about her disdain towards much of the fashion world. Last July, she told the New York Times that she finds going to fashion shows “boring,” and more recently told a British radio show (via The Cut) that being a street style fixture is “not fun for [her].”

Now, just before London’s Opening Ceremony pop-up shop rereleases five of her sold-out designs for the store, Chloe’s told Elle UK that fashion is “not really [her] passion.” Acting is her passion (duh), and her latest gig as a transgender contract killer in the upcoming mini-series Hit and Miss, brought her to tears, she says:

Olympic hopefuls in bathing suits may have scored the cover of Vogue June issue (which hits newsstands May 22) but Jennifer Lopez, featured in an array of gorgeous swimwear inside the glossy, more than holds her own against them. Did we mention she’s 42?

J.Lo covered Vogue‘s April body issue, and we wondered why she was so (relatively) covered up. No one’s going to accuse her of being too covered up in this spread, that’s for sure. Read more »

The 65th Annual Cannes International Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, and of course we’re super excited to see what everyone will wear.

Not only does the festival offer a perfect blend of Hollywood glamour and French insouciance, but whether it’s the heat or the proximity to nude beaches, people tend to get pretty daring with their fashion choices. And it’s made for some pretty iconic red carpet moments over the years.
