Mid-Day Snack

agynessactress.jpgAdd A Slash: As in model/actress. Next up is Agyness who’s shooting a short film with the guy who plays the ADA on Law & Order. Also we now have “Celebrity Skin” running through our heads, which is not a bad thing at all. {Page Six}

Is Adidas the New Target: They’ve had Jeremy Scott and Stella McCartney, but now they’re onto British brand PPQ. Here’s your first look at their stripe-y, Catwoman-y collection. {Nylon}

Rita Hayworth Gave Good Face: Lindsay Lohan does not. God love (or hate) the Daily Mail for pointing out what we also witnessed last night, some seriously weird expressions that did nothing but age the girl in a major way. {Daily Mail}

Silly Simon: The master of windows makes the Queen out of ribbon and sticks her in Barneys’ windows in honor of Sir Paul Smith. If anyone can make the recession a happy time, it’s Simon Doonan. {Racked}

Ed & Helena Get It On

helena ed and dolce.jpgEd Westwick gets very close to Helena Christensen in next month’s Bazaar. This makes us feel:

1) Jealous, so jealous we could cry.

2) Hot, it’s pretty sexy.

3) Excited to be 40, Helena only pops up in front of cameras when she gets to wear lingerie these days.

4) Creepy, she’s old enough to be his mother.

5) Bummed, that we have to wait five more days for a new Gossip Girl and that we won’t even get to watch it because we’ll be at shows.

6) Did we say jealous?

Alexa Chung: Just Another Face

i wanna be a supermodel or alexa chung.jpgAfter Alexa Chung popped up on Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label show during Spring 09 London Fashion Week, we expected her to land a semi-major campaign.

It was the perfect moment to move from noted British TV personality to model of something other than Tampax or Urban Outfitters.

And then there was word she’d be designing a line for New Look which was cool because the girl wears some amazing vintage and if it’s like Kate’s line for Topshop we’d basically get to shop Alexa’s closet when we’re in London next month.

But, it turns out she’s just the new face of New Look. Which means there’s no “designing” and no major campaign which is kind of a bummer because if ever there was a British It-Girl we’d champion it’s her, and she doesn’t even get to hawk Agent Provocateur.

Pixie for AP, Too

pixie geldof for agent provocateur cropped.jpgWe somehow missed this over the weekend:

Pixie Geldof has followed in the footsteps of big sis Peaches, and added modeling for Agent Provocateur to her resume which, as far as we know, consists only of modeling for Pringle of Scotland alongside Daisy Lowe (another former AP girl) and Lydia Hearst.

Pixie plays a virgin, but back to reality:

Kind of makes you pine for the days when all Agent news revolved around Kate, no?

Our Strange AP Relationship Continues

britt thong.jpgI was fortunate enough to be on a plane leaving the country when Joe Corre sent over my eponymous lingerie last May.

The strappy leather number made me blush and the fall lookbook gave my mom a heart attack until I learned to embrace the honor because really, it’s too good to not throw into first date conversation.

Anyway, despite my coming to terms with strips of leather bearing my name, I never in a million years thought anyone was buying the thing.

But apparently it’s selling quite well - so well that they’ve expanded the Britt range to include a couple of thongs and some stand alone suspenders.

So, if you need something special for New Year’s…click away.

Elettra Wiedemann’s Newest Campaign

elettra does yamamay.jpgElettra Rossellini Wiedemann is the new face, or body rather, of Italian lingerie line Yamamay.

What is it about kind of random foreign lingerie brands and super skinny daughters of important people that make such a good pair?

Well, according to Yamamay’s CEO, Gianluigi Cimmino, it’s Wiedemann’s “innate elegance” and perfect “curves” that make her the ideal face for their “sensual” underpinnings. He loves that “all women will be able to relate to her”.

Elettra’s gorgeous, but seriously? We thought lingerie ads were supposed to be aspirational, not relatable.

Which explains the long roster of pretty rich girls with well air brushed bodies fronting an international array of bras: Lydia Hearst for Myla, Kimberley Stewart for Adore Moi, Daisy Lowe and Peaches Geldof for AP and now Elettra for Yamamay.

So, Lou Doillon for Princess Tam-Tam? Because, she like totally reminds me of my BFF.

More than Perfume on Paper Strips, Please

lofficiel.jpgWhy do European magazines always come with something extra?

In London, we picked up a bunch of teen magazines that came with glittery eye shadow and neon lipstick, (which we totally used for Henry Holland’s party). The British Bazaar came with a shopping supplement that was so well done we almost forgot to read the actual magazine. ELLE came with a tote. POP came with an Agent Provocateur pullout featuring Daisy Lowe, Peaches Geldof, and the Britt and the Faran. And well, British Vogue just came with the best content ever.

And now we’re in Paris, where the new L’Officiel comes with a tube of Dior mascara (!!!) and other mags squeeze books, make-up, tweezers and other swag into their plastic wrapping.

The best part is, the editorial content of these magazines is significantly better than most of what’s found stateside, so there’s no need for added compensation - not that we’re complaining.

So what’s up America, when do we get Diorshow with our five dollar magazine?!

Shopping

Don’t Linger, Think Lingerie

maggie in ap.jpgWe know not everyone can make it to the opening of the Barneys Warehouse sale today, so here’s a shopping tip:

Agent Provocateur is having an online sale, so a lot of their cutest stuff is 50% off, and in a good range of sizes, too.

We suggest the Frida outfit, worked by former AP body Maggie Gyllenhaal, at left.

It channels an old-time coquette kind of look just enough to be cute, not sad.

Puppy not included.

Film noir hair highly suggested.

Lots of Agent For Your Argent

maggie g for agent.jpgThese sales are killing us.

Post Alex Wang, LaPerla and Proenza comes Agent Provocateur’s annual sale. It starts this Monday, August 4th, on-line, which means you can wake up and shop for really pretty bras from your bed before you even go to work.

Markdowns are up to 50%, so bras will start around $50 and underwear should go as low as $20 which is a steal for Agent’s lacy detailed underpinnings.

Collections definitely going on sale include the Nikita, the Gangster, the Paula and the Frida, but sorry - not the Britt or the Faran.

Have fun. And tell your boyfriend we say “You’re Welcome.”

Kate Moss + AP: The Saga Continues

alice dellal undies.jpgThe rumors and anxiety (anticipation?) of Kate Moss being ousted as the queen of lean at Agent Provocateur continue with this latest rumor:

The Daily Telegraph reports that Alice Dellal, the 20-year old model/socialite, has been shot by Agent for a “trial photo shoot”.

They may not be absolutely sure on Alice’s place in AP’s panties, but they do point out that AP did not renew their contract with Kate last year, and that her latest stint in their bridal range was basically a guest appearance.

So the verdict? Alice may or may not be the new AP girl. But here’s a fun fact - she already has experience modeling lingerie - for Pussy Glamore.

NSFW, Not quite RTW

french playboy pull.jpgDuring a transitional period of my life, I enjoyed a brief stint as a wardrobe stylist for Playboy magazine - also known as the most ironic job ever.

It was probably the most fun job I’ve ever had - deciding which frilly pieces of lace went with which table top, kitchen counter, couch, pool table… you get the idea.

Believe it or not, naked girls have been popular since long before Dita - but they haven’t always been “in fashion.” But now I can name a handful of lingerie designers (it’s funny to think that Kiki didn’t even exist three years ago) who one-up plenty of designers on the runway, and even mega-store Sephora now has a pin-up campaign.

Lingerie’s been on the mainstream mind since Marc’s Spring 08 show, since burlesque took over the LES, since Kate Moss for AP, since that Playboy France cover shot by Karl - but I’ve been taking notes since puberty.

So that’s why I’m so excited to see lingerie and pin-up get their due with a real-life fashion model - continue after the jump to see Anouck Lepere, and witness just why Playboy France might soon be getting more fashion props than Vogue.

Joe Corre: Man of His Word

the britt and faran agent provocateur pull.jpgRemember back when Britt and Faran met Joe Corre at the Agent Provocateur / Kate party earlier this month?

Remember how Faran jokingly asked if he would name panties after them? Remember how funny it was when he said he would even though nobody thought he would?

Turns out Joe was dead serious, because here they are, on their way to an AP near you come September.

The one on the left is the Faran, and on the right is the Britt (she actually got two versions, click through to check them out).

Britt would like it to be noted that she’s actually much more conservative than her new panties might imply…

But Is She Wearing AP Under That Trench?

anna likes kate as much as we do.jpgRumors surround Kate Moss like socialites surround the upcoming Chanel sample sale

But this particular one, that she’ll grace the cover of Vogue’s August issue, appears to be true.

She was out and about in East London the other day wearing a Burberry trench, being directed by Grace Coddington and shot by Mario Testino - and that’s pretty much the Vogue Trifecta. An August cover would also coincide quite nicely with the September opening of New York City’s first Topshop - a party Kate’s sure to attend.

With Philip Green’s biggest star on the cover of the biggest fashion magazine, there’s potential for him to single handedly revive lagging ad sales.

Which means those much anticipated September issues might still be ridiculously heavy.

Rumor Mill: Lily for Kate?

kate moss so young.jpgSo here’s the most fun/awful rumor of the day -

The reason Kate Moss was missing from Saturday night’s Life Ball in Vienna - the annual runway show/party that raises money for AIDS research, for which Kate was set to be the sort-of-face via Agent Provocateur’s sponsorship - is pretty simple. Apparently, she “just bailed”.

So the Agent people did a last-minute switch, which ended up with Lily Cole taking Kate’s place, which inexplicably involved a leather catsuit (of course, Faran’s made sure we all get to see Lily in it, Vienna or not).

Next logical rumor: Lily for Agent? But what would her Political Geography 401 professors say?!

Quote of the Day

“So what we really want to know is - will you name a pair of panties after us?” - Faran to Agent Provocateur founder - and son of Vivienne Westwood - Joe Corre, at the AP party last night.

He swore he would and promised pictures as soon as “The Britt” and “The Faran” are finished.

Daisy Lowe for AP… Again?!

Daisy Lowe black and white.jpgAwesome fashion question to follow last night’s awesome Agent Provocateur party:

Is Daisy Lowe getting recast in the A.P. ads this Fall?!

We really hope the rumor is true, because Daisy is not only a very cool girl, but she’s a girl with a very healthy, incredible body, and one that could proudly represent young women in a campaign for sexy, powerful, cool girls.

There’s only one question:

How will Daisy handle her new job as a TV talk show hostess with her upcoming campaign duties as the face of one of Britain’s biggest and coolest brands?

Multitasking works best in ruffled panties, yes?

Nick Knight’s Kate Video, Scene 1

kate moss in ap still.jpgThe first of the Agent Provocateur scenes filmed by Nick Knight and written by AP founder Joe Corré is finally available on ShowStudio.

The campaign is meant to portray “the demise of a bride’s ‘big day’ and serialise the unravelling of the religious organisation behind it”.

Nick will be releasing one scene per day until May 7th, always at 1pm EST.

The first one is called “The Happiest Day of Her Life” and Kate is supposed to be playing a “demure virgin bride.” No word on what exactly the back-up girls are supposed to be…
