Lorenzo’s New Gig

lorenzomartonevictoriabeckhamARCNY.jpgWhile people keep asking Lorenzo Martone about his impending nuptials with Marc, we were more interested to read about his new business venture in this morning’s NY Post.

Martone and former Elite marketing director Ryan Brown have created ARC NY, a public relations agency just for models. They told Page Six: “Our goal is to build equity around the girl’s personality.” That means helping them branch out into other projects like acting, singing and product lines.

So far they’ve lined up Lydia Hearst, Alessandra Ambrosio, Fernanda Motta, Julie Henderson, and Jessica White.

We think this sounds like a pretty cool idea. Because it’s always painful to watch a celebrity (model, actress, or singer) stumble into new genres, seemingly without a plan or any guidance whatsoever. And between Lorenzo and Ryan, they’ve got the media savvy backgrounds and serious connections to make some really interest projects happen.

Though we can’t lie and say the possible “singing” careers don’t frighten us just a wee bit. But we’re gonna go ahead and trust in Lorenzo’s good taste on these matters.

Are You Feeling Angelic?

doutzenvictoriassecretmodelingcontest.jpgThink you have what it takes to be the next Alessandra, Miranda, or Doutzen? Well, Victoria’s Secret’s giving you a shot at proving it by holding a nationwide open casting for their next fashion show (airing in December.)

Starting October 3, castings will be taking place in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago. Panels of experts will narrow the choices down to 10 finalists and then the whole thing gets democrati and America gets to vote. But all ten finalists will be flown to New York for “Angel Boot Camp” which sounds rather ominous to me, but is apparently a series of challenges that sounds like a compressed season of ANTM. And we’ll all be able to follow along via weekly webisodes.

If you win, hopefully you won’t be the one stuck with the heavy metallic cape. For all the official rules, webisodes and whanot, go to VSAllAccess.com

VS on FB

doutzenvictoriassecret.jpgWe usually learn about a new fan page on the book of faces by seeing it in our “suggestions” or noticing that a friend has become a “fan.” That’s not how Victoria’s Secret rolls at all.

They do big productions with angels and supermodels. Even if it is just to launch a Facebook page.

Instead, Alessandra and Doutzen will be at the store on Lex this Monday morning to make the announcement about the company’s official fan page.

The girls are also accepting VS’s Webby Award later that night at Cipriani.

Tech boys everywhere are very, very happy.

Who’s the New Gisele?

vikkies.jpg
Page Six is way harsh on Gisele today, reporting that the model will leave Victoria’s Secret because her $5 million contract can’t hold up. Their source says, “Victoria’s Secret doesn’t care. They have five new hotter, younger girls debuting next year. And they won’t have to deal with any craziness.”

Interesting.

But if Victoria’s Secret can replace Gisele, they’ll need a vaguely blonde bombshell with sex appeal and high fashion cred. She should also be slightly normal - most girls can’t imagine being Heidi Klum or Alessandra Ambrosio, but somehow becoming Gisele in the bedroom isn’t so hard. Trust us, we’ve tried.

Anyway, our pics for nouveau Gisele come from last season’s Victoria’s Secret runway: Caroline Trentini is also Brazilian, also hot, and also in the favor of Anna Wintour - a triple threat indeed. Meanwhile, Canadian Heather Marks looks so good in a bikini she could easily stop traffic, and her huge smile wouldn’t scare girls off at the mall. And Jessica Stam would be the ultimate Angel, but is her career too haute for a permanent mass market deal?

Who do you want as the new Angel?

Alessandra Doubles Up

Alessandra and A_X 1.jpg
Examples of Fashion Double Duty:

Karl Lagerfeld helming Chanel and Fendi.

Tamera Mellon running Jimmy Choo and Halston.

Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst wearing the same Chanel couture dress.

And now this: Victoria Bartlett taking a break from her own line, VPL, to style the new Armani Exchange shoot. It’s called “Pool Party” and it stars Alessandra Ambrosio, who pulls Fashion Double Duty herself on break from Victoria’s Secret. We were sent unreleased images from the campaign, which you can see below.

Alessandra says: “This campaign, it’s all about summer time. It’s very hot with a lot of good energy… A good vibe around and very sexy…”

We say: “Cool, and where are the clothes?”

Girls On Film

daria hot.JPG
Alessandra Ambrosio may be on Entourage, but she’s not the only one trying to talk in front of the camera.

This week, Fashionologie has some silly shots of Lily Cole on the set of St. Trinian’s, a British farce about schoolgirls. The movie also stars Amy Winehouse and Rupert Everett, who plays his role as headmistress in drag!

Then there’s Gemma, who’s got two films - The Strangers with Liv Tyler and Black Balloon with Toni Colette - coming out later this year.

Meanwhile, Daria revealed last night to The Daily that she’s working on a film, too. We guess her Prada flick with Ridley Scott was a good experience…

Which model is next on the big screen? Well, wouldn’t it be fun to see Jessica Stam say something?

Q: Was this just another excuse to show a smoldering Daria photo?

A: Maybe just a little bit… but you know you love it.

Victoria’s Secret Goes Hollywood

alessandra.jpg
Fashion Payola takes many forms:

There are the actresses paid by designers on the red carpet, the musicians whose tours have an unofficial sponsor, celebrity “guest designers” attaching to a line.

And then there’s the straight up product placement, as masterfully demonstrated this month by Victoria’s Secret.

This week’s Entourage episode has a birthday party for Adrian Grenier sponsored by the flirty bra brand, with Alessandra Ambrosio helping him blow out the cake candles.

Also new this week is the Halle Berry movie Perfect Stranger, which takes place in an ad agency. The big client is V.S.; Heidi Klum has a guest role as herself.

Maybe the Geico cavemen won’t get their own sitcom, but we bet the Victoria’s Secret Angels are totally working on it…
