Madison Alessandro Dell’Acqua: Closed

alessandro dellacqua on madison just closed.jpgIn this hundredth installment of Just How Much Worse Can Things Get comes this:

The Alessandro Dell’Acqua boutique on Madison Avenue is closed.

No word yet on what, if anything, will replace it to take advantage of such prime shopping real estate (or…) during the holiday season, but if you’re in need of a 60” plasma, forty rolls of cash register tape, or a mini stainless steel garbage can (left), you’re in luck - the store’s liquidating all their store furnishings in an in-store sale this Saturday, with a preview of everything available online.

Yikes.

H, A, Double L, O. Double U, Double E, N Spells… Trend?

black and orange on fall 08 runways.jpgTraditionally a taboo color combination, the pairing of orange and black dominated the runways for Fall 08. Orange accents paired with black ensembles made bold appearances, seen in the high collars at Prada and the opaque tights at Alessandro Dell’ Acqua.

Aquascutum, Christian Lacroix, Gaultier and Narciso Rogriguez reversed the new combination, swapping out the traditional little black dress for more vibrant orange creations paired with opaque tights in black and burnt orange.

Moschino Cheap & Chic did their own version of Halloween-chic with a black and orange printed coat, and Comme des Garcons took the trend to new heights with a voluminous tulle skirt and top, finished off with black tights and dreadlocks.

We’ve always considered black and orange to be a spooky combination worn only on the day of the dead, but since it’s now a runway trend, will we start seeing it on all the other days, too?

Got Her: At the Vogue/Cover Girl party last night.

Stalked Her: Hello? Do you see her dress? Even Diddy gave her a second look. (He was wearing an original Members Only jacket, by the way).

Shot Her: Because we were staring at her for so long it would have been creepy if we didn’t go up and introduce ourselves.

She Says: “The shoes are Loubs! I wanted to wear something sexy so I borrowed the dress from Cassie. It’s Alessandro Dell’Acqua.”

We Say: Mission accomplished. And those aren’t just any Louboutins, they’re the Rodarte ones, and we seriously admire you for wearing those all night.
