“First of all, if you lived in New York at that time, there was no way you could not meet Andy Warhol. He was everywhere; he was like parsley.” —DVF tells students at Oxford, via WWD.

Waiting with bated breath for the Christie’s YSL auction?
Sorry, it’s still not here.
But Vanity Fair’s acquired some very cool pictures of Yves’ apartment in which you can see a selection of the items that’ll be for sale come January.
His partner, Pierre Berge, isn’t just parting with the extensive art collection but Yves’ general trove of treasures including furniture, mirrors, lamps, a variety of found objects and even their bed from the 1930s which is expected to fetch between $60,000 and $90,000 - there will be 800 lots in total.
The Goya will go to the Louvre, the Warhol will stay with Berge and we’re not sure about Moujik’s fate, but the rest is up for grabs.

If you’re craving of a Top 10 of 2008 list, Time Magazine’s got you covered.
They’ve ranked everything from The Most Awkward Moments to the Top iPhone Applications. Their fashion list, however, is slightly uncomfortable - they name check Vertiginous Heels before Yves Saint Laurent’s death and Valentino’s retirement.
But if you can skip past that list to the Top 10 magazine covers, you’ll notice Interview’s September cover squeezed in between those covering the election, the war and Wall Street’s wreckage.
It’s the first issue of Andy’s mag post re-launch, art directed by Fabien Baron and featuring Kate Moss in a Catwoman mask that Time says, “effectively uses Moss as a prop…and turn[s] the photo into a piece of art.”
The consistently brilliant new Interview’s earned the recognition and we love that a fashion, or style, magazine can hold it’s own with The New Yorker .
And Andy would, of course, be thrilled.
We finally remembered to check out the new Colette site, whose relaunch coincided with the end of the Gap x Colette here in New York, and with the renovation of the Paris store.
It’s kind of the same, but with a lot more components and way more shopping choices (think Lanvin by the loads).
But the best part? They’ve got a stable of blogs, one of which sometimes gives sneaks peeks of upcoming products for sale on the site, like the Andy Warhol Banana Sweets, at left, which we sincerely hope will be available before mid-December.
Because wouldn’t this be the best possible gift for people you don’t know what to get? Yes.
Faran took Britt to Andy Warhol’s 80th birthday last night. They drank hot pink Velvet Edie cocktails and met Mena Suvari. It went like this:
Britt: Ok Faran, don’t freak out, but look at her nail polish.
Faran: Oh. Wow.
Mena smiles.
Faran: Hi Mena, you look amazing. Can we take a picture of your nailpolish?
Mena: Sure! Isn’t it great? It’s from Essie’s new neon collection.
Faran: What’s it called?
Mena: Bermuda shorts I think?
Britt: I have on “Short Shorts,” pointing at her toes, I’m obsessed. Your hair looks kind of amazing by the way - it’s so Andy.
Faran: How long did it take you to do that?
Mena: My friend Alex did it. It took about an hour and a ton of hairspray. It’s in that awkward growing out stage so I have to get creative.
Faran: Well it looks amazing.
Mena: Thank you!

Collaborations are more common than diffusion lines these days, but here’s one that’s a little different and a lot more fun -
Diane von Furstenberg is using some of her old friend Andy Warhol’s bright and strange prints in her Resort 08 and Pre-Spring 09 beachwear.
Expect Andy’s giant big-leaf flower prints on bikinis and Marilyn’s rainbow face on caftans and sarongs.
We secretly hope Diane branches into men’s bathing suits, too. Wouldn’t Andy’s banana be so funny on some briefs?
How about his elephant print on some trunks?
Can you connect John Singer Sargent and Andy Warhol in one step?
Sure - they were both obsessed with society girls.
Now the painter David Foote takes his shot at stardom - or at least a steep commission from a wealthy family.
David’s drawn Patrick McMullan regulars like Jessica Joffe (left) and Olivia Palermo, and he puts them all up for exhibit next week at the L Gallery Studio, with a party hosted by Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian.
We expect the portrait subjects will attend their big unveiling, but which socialite will lend her patronage to Mr. Foote for a future painting of herself?
Like the Spring ‘09 collections, that’s still TBA…
