The opportunity to own vintage Givenchy, Audrey Hepburn’s vintage Givenchy, comes along once, maybe twice in a lifetime, including now. If you’ve got a miniature waist and a not-miniature wallet - to stock your closet with almost priceless wares.
On December 8th, thirty-six pieces of Audrey’s clothes, accessories and letters are going up for auction in London, including, according to The Independent two custom Givenchy dresses from Paris When it Sizzles and How to Steal a Million.
The dresses are expected to sell for at least £15,000 each (that’s about $25,150), pennies compared to her Breakfast at Tiffany’s dress which sold for $783,541.12 three years ago. This time around, all of the net-profits from the auction will be donated to All Children in School, a foundation supported by the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund that aims to educate 120 million children worldwide. So it’s a win-win: get Givenchy, give to charity.
What could be better?
Right On: Tabitha Simmons styled a great mini-shoot with the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. There are actors (Sebastian Stan), there are models (Lily Donaldson), there are designers (Patrick Ervell) and there are really great clothes. {Vogue}
Best Dressed: Nora & Delia Ephron talk about their new Broadway play, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which they adapted from Ilene Beckerman’s book. They reflect on Saks, I. Magnin, Audrey Hepburn and the magic of the perfect outfit. {Glamour}
Sex Sells: We’d kind of forgotten about the Sex and the City sequel, but now Penelope Cruz is in it and we’re suddenly really interested. Whoever dressed in her in that head-to-toe Rick Owens look the other night could give Pat a run for her money. {Grazia}
WTF: Pamela Anderson apparently used a random nine-year-old girl to hold up her train all night at an awards show. Um, and referred to her as her “daughter” and made her sit at her feet? Well, that’s the weirdest part of the day so far. Other than the fact that I was on the Fox News site. {FoxNews}

Grazia is in a tizzy today over Cheryl Cole’s eyebrow trim job. They compared a recent picture of the British pop singer to a picture from last year, where she has more going on above the eyes, and held up the older picture to be far more appealing. I think Cheryl looks pretty in both pictures, but definitely in different ways.
It’s amazing the difference removing less than an inch of hair can do for a face. My natural eyebrows are very thick. Even my tweezed brows are heavy. I once had them waxed even thinner, and was devastated. I saw a whole different person in the mirror. I underwent a similar transformation to Cheryl’s, and felt I was verging on plastic - like I had lost some part of my personality.

Across the pond today, Angels The Costumiers are putting up a bevy of costumes from films and television shows at the Bonhams Knightsbridge auction house in London.
The goods include a bullfighter style jacket Johnny Depp wore in The Man Who Cried, and a jumpsuit from the Bond film Moonraker.
How we’d feel about owning something that Johnny Depp once wore aside, we’re now making mental lists of which movie’s costumes we would bid on.
For me, it would definitely be Audrey Hepburn’s dresses and dress suits from Charade, crazy eighties getups from Parker Posey in Party Girl and Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan, and in my ultimate fantasy, Kirsten Dunst’s queenly gowns from Marie Antoinette. Britt’s with me on Marie Antoinette and would also kill for Julianne Moore’s wardrobe from Boogie Nights and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s from Secretary. Abby loves the clothes from either version of The Thomas Crown Affair worn fabulously by Faye Dunaway and Rene Russo, along with some of Gwyneth’s pieces from The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Whose wardrobe is on your wish list?

One of our most hotly debated trivia questions was last year, when we asked which fashion company had actually patented a color: Tiffany Blue.
The shade is synonymous with Park Avenue engagements, prep school graduations, Audrey Hepburn yearnings, and of course, “I’m sorry I cheated on you with the nanny and Page Six found out before you did.”
But now it seems the color is getting hijacked by someone else:
Swarovski.
The brand most famous for sponsoring emerging designers, and decking Naomi Campbell in a pair of crystal headphones, has taken a turn from it’s deep violet ads starring Gemma Ward and Jessica Stam, and shifted instead to something…
Well, something that looks a lot like Tiffany blue.
Is this just the best shade to show off a sparkle? Or is Swarovski trying to imply something else?
