The Paperball & Paper Fun

paperball 3.jpgLast night’s Paperball, at the MAD museum, was full of beer, paper and Madeline Albright.

The exhibition and party and dinner were split amongst five floors which meant me and my boots got quite the workout (the elevator moved at a glacial pace) and though the party party was mean to be on the sixth, everyone gathered on the second floor.

Bill Cunningham wove his way in and out of the exhibit, snapping pictures of girls in paper dresses, paper flowered hats and paper bow ties while I obsessed over Jen Kao’s dress. I’ve never touched anything in a museum (duh), but I had to reach out and poke it to make sure that it wasn’t leather. I still don’t really believe the laced up, shoulder padded shift is built from paper; it sat next to Bliss Lau’s corseted dress, inspired by The Great Gatsby (though we’re pretty sure Daisy would blush) and Zaldy’s fantastical swirling cocktail dress.

giovanna and her dream life.jpgFlashing Lights: It’s not that we don’t love a good picture of Lindsay & co., it’s just that Giovanna & co. make for much better paparazzi shots. {Fashionologie}

OMG & LOL: Kelly Bensimon to W’s blog, “I love Navajo and I love the idea of taking Pocahontas out of the kayak and putting her into the disco. Everyone knows that she’s had enough in her little canoe and now she’s out and having fun in the disco.” Kelly Bensimon to StyleList, “The bad thing about Pocahontas is that she’s, like, in the kayaks. So I took her out of the kayak and into the disco so she could have a little fun.”{StyleList & Jezebel}

The store’s at 466 Bergen St and Adam will be there from noon to 7 Saturday April 11th - we’re telling you now so you have time to prepare.

And we have to know, is there any dress you want that badly?

Did Erin Bliss Out?

bliss lau ponytail top.jpgWe went to Gen Art last night and did some serious damage to our already weak wallets. On our way out, we approached a rack of chain jewelry, wine in hand and announced, “Wow, this looks just like Erin Wasson’s.”

We were impressed, just like we were when we first saw Erin’s pieces, until the girl standing next to the rack, Bliss Lau, looked like she might cry. Apparently, allegedly, her work looks like Erin Wasson’s because the model bought one of her necklaces, re-cast it and threw the copies over Alexander Wang’s Fall 08 collection on that dirty Chelsea runway.

All would have been forgiven, maybe, until Wasson wore the original Bliss version in her Nylon write up.

We love Erin, and now we kind of love Bliss, and it’s impossible to know exactly who’s right or who’s wrong, (though Bliss has been making her body chains since Fall 2007).

So we sighed, bought the necklaces from Bliss because they’re super pretty and got the hell out of there before we spent any more money or heard any more scary stories.
