Forever 21 is Not Century 21

century 21 mega shopping.jpgTwo days ago, Reuters reported that the closing Virgin Megastore in Times Square will be replaced by a Century 21, the famous mega outlet in Lower Manhattan.

But today, the New York Times says that Virgin will be replaced by Forever 21, which is obviously a completely different store, though both sell clothing at astonishingly low prices (the difference being, you can find Marc at Century 21, and Marc knock-offs at Forever).

We’re pretty sure the Times is right, even though WWD did report back in November that this unprecedentedly enormous Forever 21 would occupy the old space from Tower Records, which is obviously different from Virgin.

But it’s Thursday, so we’re pretty sure this is all fine.

Your Bag

“What’s in Your Bag?” 7: the Streets

Back on the block and sporting hand-me-downs from NYLON, we bring you another set of bag interrogations.

We stopped a web editor-in-chief while she was making her boutique rounds, another Aussie who takes joy in our economical toil, and the spat-sporting Posso (“P-O-S-S-O”) girls on their vacay from LA (to DJ a Chloe party at that).

PS - We hear Britney was in Soho that day, too bad we didn’t spot her. This could have been her comeback moment!

Got Her: Catwalking on Greene Street in SoHo

Stalked Her: Because her hot pink lips and jet black bob caught our eye from across the street.

Shot Her: Because she was the ultimate anti-“florals for Spring” and what we first thought was simply a jacket worn backwards turned out to be made that way (a la 90’s Celine Dion/Galliano).

She Says: “The bag is Miu Miu, the other one is from Trader Joe’s. I got the jacket on sale at Century 21, it’s by Ilaria Nastri. Everything else was stolen from various shoots.”

We Say: “Maybe Kriss Kross had something there… “
