Questions & Queries

ss10 fashion week calendar.jpgFive questions for the Fashion Week calendar:

1. Why is a man named Cesar Galindo going up against both Anna Wintour and the Mayor of New York City by staging a runway show in the middle of Fashion’s Night Out? And how does he have that much money to throw away? Also, is he related to Rudy Galindo?

2. Why does Vladimir Roitfeld get a box on Tuesday September 15th (which, by the way, he shares with DSquared2 which is interesting)? His event, or whatever it is, lasts from 6-11 and overlaps with Narciso’s show.

One Sock, Two Sock, Yes Socks, No Socks?

men in socks.jpgI’ve been trying to catch up on the men’s shows before Paris hits and it’s always interesting to scroll through everything at once.

I’m clicking through the boring suits with contrast lapels and short shorts that won’t work on any guy who hasn’t been to the gym every day for the past month and I’m noticing what might be the oddest trend ever: Socks.

My inner fashion demon, the ones from way back, like second grade, have always told me that socks and sandals are the biggest, most absolute NO ever.

But now, post-hours on men.Style.com, I learn that Stefano Pilati thinks they’re OK, Dean and Dan think they’re grand and even Consuelo Castiglioni over at Marni channeled “Grandpa with his pants down” when she decided that loafers paired with knee-highs and boxer shorts make an acceptable outfit.

And now my fashion compass is all sorts of off.

Everybody’s Doing It

dean and dan and rihanna.jpgDean and Dan Caten, the lovable brothers behind Dsquared2, are launching their own radio show.

The broadcast airs on Sirius satellite radio’s BPM channel starting May 5th.

The boys will play all their favorite music, including bits from their runway soundtracks. And aside from their own witty commentary, they’ll have interviews with some of their closest friends - actresses, musicians - to talk about fashion and life in general.

Their show comes just a couple of weeks after Isaac Mizrahi launched his five-week radio show and now we’re hoping for a fashion radio take-over. They can call it Inside the Fashion Mind - have a new guest every week and pick their brain about fashion for an hour?

Do we have a host?
