We still don’t really understand Megan Fox.
We know she pouts a lot, breaks up with Brian Austin Greene a lot and takes off her clothes a lot. This news falls into the last category - she’s been named the new face of Armani Underwear.
For some reason, amid swirling retirement rumors and old age, Giorgio’s really into pushing his underwear. Last season brought naked Beckhams on every corner and come January, we’re really looking forward to seeing Cristiano Ronaldo’s fifteen foot tall torso on our way to work each and every morning.
Fox will be his girly counterpart, WWD reports that Mert & Marcus shot the actress this past weekend in LA. Unfortunately, not even they could get an image, the campaign doesn’t launch until January. But Google image Megan Fox and you’ll get a pretty good idea of how she likes to pose in her undies.
UPDATE: According to the most recent press release, she’s also the face of Armani Jeans. So she does get to put clothes on, too.
Farrah Fawcett’s recent death is still inspiring odes to her famous locks. We’ve already rhapsodized on how much we love Farrah, but this got us all thinking about other 1970s hair icons.
Since it’s summer, the first lady that came to mind was Bo Derek, running on the beach in 10.
Farrah had the blown-out voluminous curls. Bo was on the other end of the spectrum with her sleek cornrows.
Sure it’s a beach-associated style, but we’re actually of the belief that an incredibly wide range of people can work it with confidence, even on the isle of Manhattan. Hell, even David Beckham looked great in them back in 2003 (okay, actually, David Beckham basically always looks good.)
Looking for a way to spice up your hairstyle? Give cornrows a second look. Now, if we could look that good in a nude bathing suit…

If you’re at the office, you’re probably counting down the hours ‘til the holiday weekend kicks off. We think those hours pass more quickly with eye candy.
And today that comes to us from the Daily Mail in the form of Posh and Becks’ latest Emporio Armani ad campaign. As the paper notes, the large rope that was featured in David’s last solo venture makes repeat appearance.
But we’re more into Victoria’s hair (aside from their glistening bodies, that is.) We’re long-time fans of the high pony. And while we won’t be sporting one that sticks straight up in the air, we do rather like the idea of adding a braid.
Even you Beckham-haters have to admit they look pretty smokin’ right? We hope they keep doing these underwear ads for many seasons to come.

From a conversation last night:
Yet another designer is breaking into a new category soon, but this time, it’s significant -
Roland Mouret is designing a line of menswear! As in, right now.
No word on exactly when the line debuts, but it’s definitely in the works, and we’re guessing it’s for next men’s Fashion Week.
This news comes just a month after Balenciaga showed men’s looks on the runway for the first time in a while.
But back to Mouret - does this mean the Beckhams can get matching designer outfits? Because they totally would.
His and hers towels make us giggle.
His and hers underwear ads positively thrill us.
We think this might be history in the making. From now on, for every nakey David Beckham for Emporio Armani Underwear ad, Victoria will get one to match.
WWD reports that Mert and Marcus have already shot the Spring 09 campaign starring Posh, whom Giorgio calls a “style icon, a dynamic lady whose influence and recognition will add great excitement to the continued international growth of our Emporio Armani women’s underwear business.”
Her body should also add some “great excitement” - we haven’t seen Posh in her underwear since that steamy W shoot over a year ago, since which her fashion cred has skyrocketed with a starring role in the Marc ads, a well-received line of Roland Mouret, ooops, her own, dresses and front row seats on major runways.
On another note, whatever happened to the Beckham reality show?
Not too long ago, we started to see David Beckham’s ten-pack all over the place as the body for Emporio Armani underwear.
Now, Vogue UK reports that Becks will be joined in this endeavor by Takeshi Kaneshiro, the Taiwan-born actor who’s been making major waves in Asian cinema since the early 90’s.
With the debut of Emporio Armani’s Fall 08 ads, Takeshi will be the first Asian model to appear in one of Armani’s major ads (let’s not forget Du Juan’s amazing hazy images for Armani’s pre-Fall 08) which means that perhaps the recent uproar over the lack of minority models in advertising campaigns may be at least slightly ameliorated by Armani’s efforts to include models from all walks of life.
Maybe this is the beginning of that final stage of model diversification, cracking the impossible world of advertisements? Let’s hope.
Sean Combs and David Beckham have already created some successful fashion ventures, but according to recent rumors in the UK, they want even more.
In a recent interview with an Irish newspaper, Sean said, “I’d love to do a fashion range with David Beckham. He’s a good friend and is very kind. Us two together doing business would be amazing…Perhaps we could collaborate to do something for charity.”
Oh lord.
But Sean may already be too late:
Apparently, Mr. Beckham was recently meeting with Snoop Dogg to create a new range of shoes.
We don’t really know why…
Giorgio Armani makes roller skates now.
1. If any designer’s making roller skates - shouldn’t it be Heatherette?
2. That new business plan - the one where he refrains from sticking his name and logo on everything in order to re-establish himself as a luxury instead of mass market brand - was introduced less than six months ago. So has it not started yet or did they just ditch the idea?
3. Why don’t they come collaged with pictures of David Beckham rocking his Armani briefs?
4. Does Giorgio himself roller skate through the streets of Milan? Because we would LOVE to see that.
5. Who, exactly, is the target consumer for this $425 product? We’re dying to know.
WWD began the rumblings several months ago, and now we’ve heard from someone involved with the shoot that Victoria Beckham has indeed been styled, photographed, and paid (oh my, she was paid…) for the Spring ‘08 Marc Jacobs ads.
Juergen Teller did the honors and shot Posh Spice just after Halloween.
The move ensures two things in the land of MJ:
1. Like Dakota Fanning and Meg White before her, now that VB has been chosen by Marc himself, she’s officially and undeniably cool. This is fine with us, because she seems pretty funny and smart.
2. Marc’s done with his Violet Incredible obsession and he’s moved onto finding the complications in glossed and glassy women, not shaggy and sharded girls. As his own appearance morphs and changes, his clothes edge into more implicit ideas about sex and identity - and so do his heroines. Dita and Victoria are the new Golden Girls here, and we’ve got to get used to it.
At least, for this season we will.
PS: The photo we chose… well, we really wanted one of Posh smiling… but she still had to have her trademark short hair… and this is the only one we found!
There’s been a lot of talk over David Beckham bringing soccer to mainstream America. We don’t know (or care?) if he can pull it off, but now he’s bringing us something we actually do care about.
The soccer legend will star as the new global face for Emporio Armani Underwear- which will be available in the U.S. for the first time starting in February.
This isn’t the only fashion occasion the two have met over- Armani designed a custom wardrobe for the English national team back in 2002, working with Beckham on the designs. The two have been friends ever since, and Armani has even spilled to the press what he believes Beckham’s true reasons for moving to the U.S. were- not the $250 million contract with LA The Galaxy, but the chance to audition for parts in Hollywood.
We have the feeling this is just the beginning of seeing Beckham’s face (and abs) all over billboards and magazine pages beginning next month.
Could David Beckham be fashion’s next big British import?
