This Is It: Michael Jackson is probably the only man who can bring hip-hop royalty, fashion royalty, and actual royalty together in one room. Derek Blasberg talks about his royally cool night. And we get a wee bit jealous. {Blasblog}
This is just fun to watch.
Again, the more excited we get for Fashion’s Night Out - it’s really going to be epic - the more worried we get about people not shopping. Sure, the stores will be packed, but no one’s going to head to the dressing rooms when they’re struggling to catch a glimpse of an Olsen or a Miller.
It’s especially weird to watch this video - in which everyone from Michael Kors and Bradley Cooper to Diane Kruger and Vera Wang discuss the fashion industry’s dire situation - while they’re decked in diamonds and their finest custom get-up for the CFDA’s.
So we haven’t been able to stop thinking about Miranda Kerr’s fabulous airport outfit from last week.
Seriously.
She looks effortless and super comfortable, but still chic. Boyfriend jacket and maxi dress—we like. And we kinda wish that we could wear our sunglasses inside without looking like assholes.
Of course, it’s a lot easier to look good when you aren’t schlepping your entire life in your carry-on, but still, Ms. Kerr is killing it.
I’m hopping a plane myself in a few days and am trying to come up with my own Kerr-esque casual chic look. I’m trying to take cues from Miranda as well as Diane Kruger, whose airport looks have also been nearly perfect as of late.
I can’t believe it’s almost August. But it is. And that means that Fashion Week will be here before I know it, so it’s time for me to start thinking about how I want to transition my look.
All summer, I’ve stayed pretty true to the coral lip and lined eyes that I fell in love with when I saw Kate Moss’ Topshop shoot.
(By the way, thanks to all of you who recommended MAC’s Lady Danger in the comments on that post. I’m already on my second tube.)
And now, I think I’ve found my first new look for fall thanks to Diane Kruger at the Inglourious Basterds premiere earlier today in Berlin.

The Good News:
Net-a-Porter has finally reinstated their “Shop by Designer” function on the sale pages, which means you’ll have something to do if - like us - there’s absolutely nothing going on in your office today.
The Bad News:
Even on “sale,” this Giles dress is still almost $1000.
Also, it’s called the Kruger dress -
Though despite its clean lines and cool shape, we doubt Diane Kruger will leave her Chanel allegiance for it.
Maybe Giles really meant Freddy Kruger, since the red streaks kinda look like slasher blood?
