Who Is Yvie: Have you checked out YSL’s new blog yet? They’re sending five bloggers around the States for “experience.” Not like Kate’s experience in the commercial, but still fun. {YSL}

Get Your Blog On: If you’ve always dreamed of blogging your way through London Fashion Week, you’re probably too young to enter this competition. If you are old enough though, here’s your chance to land backstage at Somerset House. {Grazia}

Quote of the Day

“Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana hit New York City last week to shoot their spring-summer advertising campaigns for women and men. According to…Twitter, the duo was in the middle of a Sicily-themed photo shoot with Steven Klein in a Brooklyn studio on Wednesday.” — From this morning’s WWD, because dressing Brooklyn up as Italy, which is where you are in the first place, makes so much sense.

Louis Live, Too

louis vuitton goes live stream ss10.jpgEveryone’s doing it.

Louis Vuitton just announced that they’ll hop on the live stream bandwagon and broadcast their SS10 show, too.

Burberry did it in their stores, Dolce and Gabanna (and D&G) did it online, but ever the exclusive ones, Louis Vuitton will broadcast it on their Facebook page only. The show will stay up for just twenty-four hours and then slideshows will have to satisfy you.

So pencil in ten minutes in front of a computer next Wednesday, October 7th at 2:30pm in Paris which means 8:30am in New York or way too early in California. And don’t forget the night before, Alexander McQueen’s broadcasting his show, called “Plato Atlantis” at 8:30pm Paris time (which you can translate accordingly).

It all makes the hurt of not actually being in Paris slightly more bearable.

Weekend Tweets

A Weekend’s Worth of Tweets

d and g front row ss10.jpgIn which we catch those of you, and those of us, who spent the weekend outside, away from a computer or on a phone-cation, up on the fashion Twitterverse.

1. “I don’t get it,” from @jess_stam. She’s new to the world of tweets, give her a warm welcome!

2. “A Lanvin ‘snow sprite’ cashmere elf hat. It kind of makes me feel like skipping,” from @bunnybisous who appears to have been stranded uptown in the rain.

3. “Got sandwiched between Vogue’s Sally Singer and Anna Wintour to my left and Michael Roberts and Suzy Menkes to the right,” from @bryanboy at Dolce & Gabbana. A better view of their reactions, here. Sally looks amused; Hamish looks dangerous.

4. “Is it possible to have fashion sensory overload? Tell me no. I have 10 more days and another city to go,” from @mrjoezee. Yes, yes there is sir.

5. “Spotted on the front row at Versace…..Janet Jackson,” from @dazedmagazine. She sure pops up in the strangest places.

Peek at D&G SS10

Here’s a peek at the upcoming Dolce & Gabanna SS10 collection.

It comes courtesy of Swide magazine, which we’d never heard of, but after a bit of research have decided it’s actually Dolce & Gabanna’s own online publication. Each and every story is, after all, about the Italian design duo.

Anyway, from the video we learn there will be lots of white lace, lots of wide, black fishnet-like material and some ribbons. They’ll be debuting one each day until the collection shows in Milan this week. To whoever makes the next one, more upbeat music please!

Life With Nicole Chavez!

nicole & kristen.jpgLast week, I spent a few days in LA soaking up the other side of the fashion industry, one that loves the art as much as we do, but revolves almost entirely around celebrities.

So I dove right in, starting with a celebrity stylist: Nicole Chavez. Never heard of her? Well, you probably love her work since she styles Rachel Bilson (who, let’s face it, is best known for her style), Scarlett Johansson and Kristen Bell. I’d spent time with my fair share of editorial stylists, but for a career that has the same name, it couldn’t be more different.

We spent the day pulling clothes for three events for Scarlett - Comic Con, the LA Shorts Film Festival and a Dolce & Gabbana in-store appearance - which means we ran from her loft to a designer’s house to Dolce’s showroom to Prada’s store stopping to pick up shoes on the way and unloading FedEx boxes at home. It was a never ending parade of pulling and editing and choosing and trying on and my peppering Nicole with a million questions.

So how’d she get started? What was it like working on The OC? Does she ever want to do editorial? Find out after the jump!

Dolce Joins the Film Club

dolce fragrance video peek.jpgWe knew Naomi, Claudia and Eva’d landed Dolce and Gabbana’s new fragrance campaign, but we didn’t know each had a movie to go with their print ad.

The Italian duo’s anthology collection, inspired by Tarot cards and multiple personalities, doesn’t launch until September, though they’d like your anticipation to start building now so they’ve released the first peek of the first video.

This one stars Texan Tyson Ballou as Le Bateleur (the magician). We see is him in an elevator and him donning a monogrammed bathrobe which doesn’t, so far, make us want to buy perfume.

But Naomi’s up next week, July 30th, and though the sneak peeks are literally blink-or-you’ll-miss-it short, we are looking forward to the full length clips.

Drama Feed: Dolce & Gabanna’s AW09 campaign features lots of models, lots of Marilyn dresses, lots of fur and lots of dresses that we’d really love to have (especially if they come with one of the male models.) {Models}

Strap This: According to Garance, because according to the Italians, everyone needs a little strapless dress this summer, worn with flats during the day. This, we love. {Garance}

So What?: There’s a dude from Kentucky who diets so that he can walk for Cavalli and Co. He only eats twice a day. Mon dieu! {NYTimes}

Nightcap: London Style

david gandy model turned writer.jpgAt least New York was kind enough to place a couple of days between the CFDAs and the Whitney Art Party - London decided to cram it all into one very fashionable evening.

First up, the Hoping Foundations charity event to raise money for Palestinian refugee camps. Sienna Miller and Kate Moss held court on the dance floor, the former laughing loudly above the crowd and the latter admiring Sienna’s shoes.

We ran into Sienna again at Quintessentially’s summer party, but she, as well as we, left when we realized the bar was dry.

So it’s a good thing Grey Goose sponsored Ralph Lauren’s Summer BBQ at the Kensington Roof Gardens. Tennis stars mingled with princesses though we had our eye on Dolce & Gabanna model David Gandy. He’s unphased by Jesus’ turn in the Dolce spotlight, in part because he’s busy penning a column for the new magazine Fash-ism, launching next month.

Matthew Williamson’s H&M Commercial

Just in case you haven’t heard, Matthew Williamson recently launched a collection for H&M.

There was a major London bash, a New York launch and then a Grace Jones-centric party on a boat in the Hudson and now, this commercial. Daria speaks, which is rare, and Matthew Williamson emerges from underground, which we imagine is also rare.

Grey-haired men, Dolce-shouldered models, pink horses and bikini-clad women star; at the end Matthew declares, “Well, I haven’t done it all, yet.”

What, exactly, does he have in store?
