Save Eleanor Waldorf

eleanor waldorf fashion show.jpgIf you, like us, only head toward Times Square/Port Authority for very, very special occasions - here’s one.

Save Fashion’s third week, May 15th through 22nd is devoted to the best of men’s: Acne, Band of Outsiders, Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers, Earnest Sewn, Inhabit, Rag & Bone, Rogan, Rogues Gallery and Steven Alan.

But then Abigail Lorick moves in and brings Eleanor Waldorf with her. You’ll have a chance to buy the clothes from the Eleanor Waldorf Fashion Show episode of Gossip Girl which means you won’t just have a one-off, but a one-off from the same runway Serena walked and Blair pitched a fit over.

Meanwhile, will Lorick for Little J for Eleanor Waldorf be there? Find out Friday May 22nd.

Happy Recessions, from Earnest Sewn

olsen wearing earnest sewn.jpgThe good people at Earnest Sewn know that times are tough. Their solution? Sell cheaper stuff and throw a few parties, of course!

On December 2nd, the Earnest Sewn store on Washington launches “Recession Proof,” a back-room installation filled with goods all for less than $50, including candles from Malin & Goetz, Dents gloves, Earnest Sewn scarves, Case & Sons knives, Moleskin notebooks, Barbour hats, 80%20 shoes, Shades of Griege shirts, Digby & Iona jewelry, Billy Kirk accessories, and pieces from the Quail.

Plus? They’re holding three shopping events (details after the jump) during which you can get 40% off Earnest Sewn goods (and 20% off everything else) while you enjoy the free refreshments being served. And (if you can believe there’s more), they’re holding a canned food drive in conjunction with the Food Bank for New York City and New York City Cares, so you get an extra 1% off third-party merchandise for every can you bring in (up to 20% off).

Now if only they could lower the regular price of their jeans, they could really pack the store, and not just for the free drinks and cute candles.

Ruffian + Earnest Sewn = Pop Up Shop!

RuffianIt’s all happening:

Starting next week, Ruffian takes over the back room at Earnest Sewn’s store in the Meatpacking District, hyping their insane ‘08 line (needlepoint graffiti cocktail dresses, skinny denim suits) and collaborating with artist Anne Koch on a new visual installation.

The space and the clothes are based on the Boarding-School-Rebel theme, with scribbled chiffon, shredded silk, and teeny black neckties all echoing the idea.

To celebrate, the Ruffian boys are throwing a party at Earnest Sewn on May 27 -

No word yet on whether muse Agyness Deyn will make it over.

Bangled to the Bone

lady grey branch necklace.jpgAs obsessed as we are with the abundance of florals for spring, (honestly we’d wear that Balenciaga dress everyday if we didn’t have to actually move), we don’t know how well we’d pull it off.

So, we’re going to wear this branch necklace instead. It kind of echoes the trend without actually looking like everyone else, which is really the best way to wear a trend anyway.

The necklace is by Lady Grey Jewelry, a Brooklyn based line by designers Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader. The girls are both trained metal smiths who cast and construct everything by hand.

Some of their pieces are available online but if you’re in Manhattan you can see most of their collection at either Earnest Sewn store.

We plan on stacking some of their signature bone bangles around our arm, too.

Trovata Opens Pop-Up Shop in New York!

trovata kids.jpg Those searching for corduroy peacoats with mismatched buttons should hold off until January 9th, when Trovata opens its first retail space in New York City.

The boutique is a pop-up shop at the Earnest Sewn store in the West Village, at 821 Washington Street. It follows other Earnest Sewn collaborations with Repetto, Malin + Goetz, and Rogues Gallery.

The move seems smart for Earnest Sewn, the celebrity denim brand, since although Trovata makes cute khakis and slacks, it hasn’t yet started a denim line, so there’s no product overlap between the two companies.

The store stays open until February 9th, and by then, you’ll have a whole new load of Trovata clothes to covet - they’ll be back in New York for another presentation during Fashion Week, showcasing their Fall ‘08 collection.

If you think you can breeze through sample pulls, showroom cleanups, calendar organizing, gift sending, and wearing cute jeans at all times, send a brief cover letter and resume to Eleanor Ylvisaker:

Please only apply if you’re qualified, and don’t embarrass yourself by wearing another brand of pants to the interview.

They won’t look as good on you anyway.
