Getting Pierced, Again

erinfearrings.jpgI have a well-documented love/hate relationship with earrings. I’ve literally had my ears pierced like six different time since I first got them done back when I was 10. I get fed up with earrings, they close up, and then I get obsessed with some pair or style and decide to get them pierced again.

It’s a stupid cycle that I realize could be easily fixed by wearing the same small simple pair on an everyday basis. But for some reason this just doesn’t work for me. It’s like some sort of mental block.

A Kiss or Two

SH-LG84G-W_main1[1].jpgFact: Lulu Guinness is adorable. Both in person and in her designs.

We’re bummed that her Kooky Eyed Cat Handbag has a waiting list, but the rest of her website is still putting smiles on our faces this afternoon.

Or should we say, smiles on our ears? Lulu has taken her iconic painted lips and made them into the most whimsical earrings since the glass slipper pair we bought at Disney World when we were nine.

We don’t wear earrings that often, but we knew there was a reason we’d kept our holes from closing.

Streetwalker: Unlawfully Cute

maybe vintage streetwalker.jpgHiba, 31, law student

Got her: She was looking for lunch on Broadway, we were looking for her.

Stalked her: Because of that print.

Shot her: Because when we got closer, we noticed the gorgeous earrings, too.

She said: Her mother’s American and her father’s Saudi Arabian, so she likes a mix of east and west and a mix of vintage and modern. She calls her style “sort of hippie with 1930s flair.”

We said: Dressing like that while studying for the bar? We’re impressed.

Why You Should Buy These

littleloveliesshop earrings.jpg1. Because after all the little flashes of jade at Chanel, you can’t get the idea out of your head either.

2. Because you should really stock up on your spring wares so you actually have stuff in your closet come real spring.

3. Because you might be strapped for cash these days, and these adorable stainless steel bud studs are $5, which is less than I paid for my bagel with lox this morning.

4. Because they’re made in America and you’ve been totally meaning to help out with that whole economy thing.

5. Did I mention they’re $5? And since shipping will cost you $1.95 no matter what, you may as well scoop them up in red, baby blue, yellow and purple, too. Come to think of it, that might make a cute decoration down the length of a placket or along a cute clutch.

I Spy: Blair, Blair Everywhere

blair accessories trendspotting.jpgWe love when we can look at something and know exactly where the inspiration came from, especially when we know it has something to do with Blair.

The first major example happened when pictures of Luella’s new accessories range were first out. Then we saw these Blair bow earrings on Fred Flare. (These are just two examples among many, by the way.)

And now, Marc Jacobs is cashing in on the look with his range of Faux Bow accessories.

We know these designers (and so many more) are inspired by the GG character the way sixth-grade girls were inspired by Cher (raise your hand if you tried to convince your mom to buy you thigh-highs), but they sometimes miss the mark - plastic? She would never.

Marc’s come the closest so far - a $70 barrette seems right up her alley. But tortoiseshell? Please.

Stud Horse

ice pop earrings.jpgWe just came across BRadelyBB, a seller on Etsy, and we knew we had to share. Her online store is packed with adorable accessories, mostly stud earrings, and at incredibly low prices.

The ice pop earrings, at left ($4!), are what first drew us in. We’re picturing them with braids and a romper.

And then we saw these steel anchor studs ($5), these neon yellow rose studs ($6), these bright watermelon slices ($3) - we could go on and on.

Extra best part? The seller is located in upstate New York, so if you’re in town, dying to buy something cute and have less than $10 to spend, believe it or not, you’re in luck.
