When I read in WWD this morning that Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala were set to open their first William Rast location in Los Angeles, my mind instantly went Robertson Blvd! Despite my personal loathing of Kitson and the Paris Hilton/Jennifer Love Hewitt-type paparazzi seekers that it draws, there are quality stores on the block and the foot traffic is as good as it gets in LA.
But I was wrong, instead they’re setting up shop at an outdoor mall in Century City, which makes sense too - but definitely isn’t as high-profile as one would expect for the launch boutique of a celebrity line. Perhaps this means someone actually did their homework at parent company People’s Liberation about where the numbers really made sense. How novel. Turns out William Rast is expected to turn a profit this year and they’re looking to open 40 stores over the next few years, with three already cemented with leases.
On a separate note: Justin, whatever was going on with your hair at the Emmys, let’s not do that again. It was old-school JT, and not in a good way. Cool? Okay, thanks.
The minute I saw the hair at the Alexander Wang show last week, I was pretty certain it would end up being my favorite, and I was right.
That super long, messy thick side braid was at once totally runway edgy and completely wearable, even if you’re not a supermodel. Though Frankie Rayder was spotted rocking hers at the gas station party later. You know it’s good when the girls don’t want to change after the show. It’s sure to become a major beauty trend and I cannot freaking wait for my hair to be long enough to properly pull this off.
Now let’s take a look at the dark side of the trend, as evidenced by Blake Lively last night at the Emmys. I like to think that, perhaps, she had taken note of the Wang moment and was trying to make it her own, but it was just a massive fail in my opinion. And she could do so much with her amazing head of hair. It was pulled too tight in the front and the braid itself look like a bit of a stiff mess. Plus, everything starts out neat and tidy and then…I just don’t know what happens.
I’ll be sticking with the looser Wang version, for sure.

It’s less than a month since Lauren Conrad’s clothing line was dropped by Kitson due to “lackluster sales.”
It seems the Hills star’s line of “basics” and jersey wasn’t making it with the LA crowd unless LC herself was in store to promote it.
But here’s some news that should make her say “haha” all day today -
Not only is LC herself set to appear as a presenter at the Emmys on September 21st, but the models that will strut the stage to hand out awards to every prime-time winner will be wearing dresses from the Lauren Conrad Collection.
