Resort Report: Jason Wu

jasonwuresort2010greenskirt.jpgJason Wu’s resort show was at the Greenwich Hotel which was exciting just because a) Gwyneth GOOPed it and b) we’d never been.

As our cab pulled up, Vogue poured out the front door and we thought, “Shit, we’ve missed it.” But there were two shows, so we scrambled past practically the entire staff, watched Nina Garcia swallow the tiny Wu in her big hug and made our way upstairs to check out hair and make-up (see below) before taking our seats with champagne in hand.

The clothes were pretty. There were rosettes and pleats and bright colors and even structured shoulders - more ladylike than most - with crystals beaded on. There were petaled sleeves, a pink and orange petaled coat (which we swear we’ve seen before) and a blue petaled dress like this one from Henry Holland on steroids.

It was cute. It was fun. It wasn’t our favorite Jason Wu, but it was definitely the most wearable, which given the times is probably more important than satisfying our runway fantasies.

Buy Gwyneth’s Clothes

goop goopbadadoop.jpgThe new GOOP just landed in our inbox.

We didn’t even make it past the introductory note to Gwyneth’s sure to be groundbreaking Spring wardrobe suggestions because she mentioned she’d done a bit of spring cleaning, the highlights of which landed in her GOOP e-bay store.

She’s selling off some mind-blowing, probably barely worn, stuff including a handful of Chanel bags, dresses from Balenciaga, Michael Kors, tops from Helmut Lang and Marni, Prada, Proenza and Vivier shoes.

Clothes are in the 4/6 range, shoes are size 8.5/9, bags are for everyone and prices are insanely low at the moment- $62 for the Proenza shoes, $146 for the Balenciaga dress.

Profits from the auction go to Robin Hood Foundation, a New York charity that targets poverty within the city. So say what you will about Gwyneth, but you know you’d get a kick out of owning her particular Burberry studded sandals via charity.

UPDATE: eBay called, here’s the link!

Chef Kate

kate moss soup.jpgKate Moss has more creative juices to offer - so she’s decided to write a cookbook.

She has, allegedly, been influenced and encouraged by Sir Philip Green’s step-daughter Stasha whose second cookbook is being released this year.

Stasha’s book consists of traditional Jewish recipes which the Daily Mirror reports Kate’s a fan of - even going so far as to guess she’s whipped up a kosher meal or two for Jamie Hince.

There’s something kind of amazing about a cookbook written by a supermodel and something even more amazing about learning that Kate Moss actually cooks meals.

The only thing better? If she started GOOP II.

Christy Turlington Likes to Read

gwyneth paltrow and christy turlington smile.jpgPlease don’t ask me why, but I’m obsessed with reading Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP.

So I was extra tickled today when Gwyneth said she’d be sharing her and her friends’ favorite books, and that friends list included Christy Turlington.

Christy’s favorite reads include Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury, Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, and Pride and Prejudice.

Gwynnie’s? Jane Eyre, Crime and Punishment and The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles, which she says “set [her] straight”.

[Since this newest edition isn’t on her site yet, feel free to click through if you’re really curious about the favorite reads of Louis Vuitton’s Spring 09 face. ]

So if you’re ever stuck in an elevator with Christy, consider yourself armed for ice breaking.
